Situ Gintung is an artificial lake located in Ciputat, South Tangerang, built during the Dutch colonial period around 1933 as part of a water control and irrigation system.

On Friday, March 27, 2009, at approximately 04:30 WIB, the Situ Gintung dam broke after heavy rainfall hit the area. The dam's collapse caused the lake water to suddenly flow out in large volumes, hitting residential areas below it.

This event resulted in dozens of fatalities, hundreds of severely damaged houses, and thousands of affected residents. The Situ Gintung tragedy is recorded as one of the most serious dam failure disasters in Indonesia.

This event serves as an important lesson about the need for water control infrastructure maintenance, dam monitoring, and safe settlement planning around disaster-prone areas

🔬 How Does a Nuclear Reactor Work?

Nuclear reactors generate energy from a process called nuclear fission — the splitting of the nucleus of a uranium atom. When one uranium atom splits, it releases tremendous heat and new neutrons, triggering a controlled chain reaction.

This reaction is regulated using control rods that absorb neutrons, so the reactor does not explode like a bomb. The heat generated is then absorbed by cooling water, converted into high-pressure steam, and used to rotate the turbines of electrical generators.

Without combustion, without smoke, and with almost no carbon emissions, nuclear reactors convert atomic energy into electricity capable of lighting millions of homes — with layered security systems and strict supervision.

A bright burst of light briefly appeared on the Moon's surface.

Not a visual effect, not a digital staging.

This footage shows the real moment a meteor struck the Moon,
producing an intense flash of energy clearly visible to astronomical cameras from Earth.

Because the Moon has no atmosphere,
this cosmic rock didn't burn up like meteors on Earth,
but instead struck its surface at extreme speed,
triggering a burst of heat and light within seconds.

Events like this are rarely seen,
but they are crucial for scientists:

measuring the impact energy,

estimating the meteor's size,

and understanding the risks to satellites and future missions to the Moon.

This burst may have been brief,
but its impact left a new crater on the Moon's surface —
a reminder that space is not a quiet and safe place.

This is tangible visual evidence
that the Moon continues to take cosmic hits

For thousands of years, we could only observe the Sun from a distance.
A source of light, heat, and life... and also the greatest mystery in the Solar System.

But for the first time, humans are sending a probe
directly into the Sun's atmosphere.

The Parker Solar Probe is penetrating the corona — the Sun's outer layer
with temperatures reaching millions of degrees Celsius,
traveling faster than anything ever made by humans.

Protected by an advanced carbon heat shield,
the probe is surviving in an environment previously thought impossible to explore.

It is there that Parker reveals secrets:
the origin of the solar wind,
solar storms,
and magnetic fields that affect satellites, communications,
even the electrical grid on Earth.

This is not just a space mission.
This is a human step
touching the heart of a star
that has illuminated our planet for 4.6 billion years
