These days, breathing clean air feels like a luxury when it should be our right. Meanwhile, many of the sources of outdoor air pollution also emit high CO2 emissions, such as vehicle emissions and industrial activities. Understanding air pollution and its impacts on both our health and the environment becomes crucial in tackling the root causes of the issue.

Adequate and balanced nutrition is essential for children’s physical and cognitive development, which directly affects concentration and academic performance. However, child malnutrition remains a global challenge. Thus, free school meal programs emerge around the world as an effort to tackle the issue. In Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), the Regional Agenda for Sustainable School Feeding (RAES) aims to integrate school feeding programs into permanent national policies and strengthen existing ones. How is it implemented?

[COMMUNITY] Like anywhere in the world, environmental issues are becoming increasingly relevant in Europe. With the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, countries worldwide are upping their efforts and commitments in achieving these targets, including on improving waste management. Amidst economic volatility, political chaos, and rampant environmental degradation, the people of Southeast Asia are stepping up to help each other through an organic digital-based grassroots movement.

From this, the moniker SEAblings has emerged to illustrate the region’s cross-border solidarity. It reminds us of community and what the people can do together. After all, while the act itself is about giving, the movement is about solidarity, not charity.

[THOUGHT LEADERSHIP | OPINION] Sharks were once rulers of the seas. Now, they are reduced to commodities, destined for distant markets to supply the global shark fin trade. For the fishermen, the catch means income. For the sharks, it means a vanishing population. For the world, it signals an unfolding ecological crisis.

The tension between protecting the ecosystem and sustaining human survival is a complex and persistent one. Despite efforts in halting the exploitative shark fin trade, unsustainable practices remain rampant. The absence of strong, coordinated trade regulations still allow threatened sharks to flood international markets.
