Saturday’s Fiery Sunrise in Budapest, Hungary.

Btw, here are some facts about this place. Despite its name and fortress-like design, Fisherman’s Bastion was never intended for defense. It was built in the late 19th century as a decorative structure to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of the Hungarian state.

The bastion was designed by Frigyes Schulek and completed in 1902. Its style draws heavily from Neo-Romanesque architecture, featuring pointed towers, ornate turrets, and archways.

The seven turrets of Fisherman’s Bastion symbolize the seven Magyar tribes that settled in the Carpathian Basin in 895, forming the foundation of the Hungarian nation.

The name comes from the fishermen’s guild responsible for defending this section of the city walls in medieval times. However, when the bastion was built, the guild no longer existed.

The Château de Maintenon, located in the Eure-et-Loir department of France, is a beautiful example of French Renaissance architecture with a rich history. Originally a medieval fortress, it was transformed into an elegant château over the centuries. Its most famous resident, Madame de Maintenon, second wife of King Louis XIV, played a significant role in the estate’s legacy. The château is known for its mix of medieval and classical styles, featuring turrets, moats, and beautifully landscaped gardens that surround the estate.

One of the château’s most remarkable features is the aqueduct built by Louis XIV, intended to carry water from the Eure River to the fountains of the Palace of Versailles. Although never completed, the aqueduct remains an impressive ruin on the estate’s grounds, adding to its charm. Inside the château, visitors can explore rooms furnished with period décor, offering a glimpse into the lifestyle of French nobility during the 17th century.

Today, the Château de Maintenon is a popular tourist destination, known for its historical significance, elegant architecture, and serene gardens. It provides an intriguing look into French history, offering a peaceful retreat from the bustle of nearby Paris.
