1895
The world's first commercial movie screening at the Grand Café in Paris. The films was made by two French brothers, Auguste and Louis Lumière. They opened theaters (known as cinema) in 1896
1900
The first cinema in Indonesia, was established on December 5, 1900, in Tanah Abang. At that time, various silent films was screened. People called it Gambar Idoep (Motion Picture)
1916
Alhambra, the very first cinema in Yogyakarta. Alhambra changed its name to Indonesia Raya (Indra), after the independence of Indonesia

The first Tarzan movies were silent pictures adapted from the original Tarzan novels, starting with Tarzan of the Apes in 1918 through seven films until 1928.

Even in Indonesia, the character of Tarzan has also appeared from a comedian, Toto Muryadi. Born in Malang, East Java, on April 24, 1945. He began his career on the traditional stage like Ludruk. Then joined the group Srimulat in 1979. Tarzan acquired the stage name when he succesfully portray the character in a play, which was used until now. He has played in more than 20 films
