Economic Progress at Risk: Purbaya Warns of Middle-Income Trap | Beritasatu: For over a decade, Indonesia's economic growth has remained around 5 percent. According to Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, this condition cannot continue if Indonesia wants to move up and become a developed country. Purbaya stated that to make that leap, Indonesia would need to achieve economic growth of over 10 percent for more than ten years. However, he acknowledged that jumping straight from 5 percent to 10 percent growth is extremely difficult. Therefore, he suggested that Indonesia should aim to reach 8 percent growth by 2029 as a more realistic starting point.
