MalariaHouse is thankful that we were born in a country named Indonesia, a tropical country where the sunshine shines throughout the year, the nature is exceptional, and the biodiversity is stunning. Located between continents, two oceans, and two plates, Indonesia is very dynamic country, both geographically, geologically and culturally. Many history sources had noted that there were various non-

local cultures entering Indonesia from time to time, most of them were warmly welcomed by the natives; and throughout that process, thus ' hybridity ' , Something that never crossed anyone's mind before, was Arisen. For instance, in Dutch East Indies Era, a pioneering Indonesia painter, Raden Saleh, already discovered a new fashion style by combining Javanese style with Arabian, Chinese, and European elements in his daily outfit. But, on the other side, in today's age of information, we still also can find ' Originality ' from the little kids in Halmahera beach who surf the wave without ever seeing that activity in any image or video; in fact, they never even know what they're doing is a popular water sport known as Surfing. MalariaHouse believes such practices are important examples to see Indonesia-how individuals from Sabang to Marauke have been, are and will always be exploring what they believe in, in their very own strength and limitation, how they deal with the-in-between position, as communities with strong cultural values, but also as part of International Society in the period of rapid globalization. Malariauhouseis trying to present this complexity, and we hope that it won't be just another reportage, but also can be an archiving activity that capture exploitations, experiments, and achievements made by individuals and communities in contemporary Indonesia nowadays.

, we invite you to take part in CONVERSATION sessions with (art curator) and (artists’ initiative non-profit organization)

Wilko Austermann (German based art curator) will present and open a discussion on video art through selected video artworks from

• Dominik Geis, “Bodies of Pompei”, 2018, (10 Min)
• Hedda Schattanik + Roman Szczesny, “Amor fati”, 2020 (16 Min)
• Evi Kalogiropolou, “She was Always Running to Left with Bent Knees”, 2018, (8 Min)
• Eva Papamargareti, “I stared”, 2019
Austermann will also present several of his projects related to his curatorial work to create possibilities for collaborations with Indonesian artists.

Meanwhile, in the 2nd session, ruangrupa will present its latest monumental project - taking the role of Artistic Director for the 2022 documenta fifteen (Germany).
Highlighting its role in this exhibition, ruangrupa will share the concept - Lumbung - which the group will project it on into documenta fifteen. With the notion to activate a space that encapsulates a strategy of “living in and with society”, Lumbung attempts to convey images of relations of an art institution with and within its surrounding community : namely, as an active constituent.

Retrospect. Repose. Redefine. is still happening! Check out Cinanti's () works at Dia.Lo.Gue () Jakarta!

She focused on the subject matter that keeps recurring on her artworks. In her artistic journey, the animals she brought forward have been a lot of things but themselves. They have embedded different symbolisms that center around “the other”; entities outside of herself who had significant impacts on her life. On the current artworks, she intentionally wanted to present them as they are. Animals as animals, without any anthropocentric allegories. However, in revealing each animal, she found that it was still necessary to keep the layers of the translucent watercolor-like paints, as if on each one lies a different exploration on identity. By doing this, she deliberately asks if we can see things as they are and not as how we want to see them.
