A Michigan jury has convicted three men of providing material support for a terrorist act in connection with a 2020 kidnapping plot targeting Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Authorities say the defendants — Paul Bellar, Joseph Morrison, and Pete Musico — were tied to the “Wolverine Watchmen” militia group and participated in planning and training for a scheme that allegedly involved attacking the state Capitol and abducting government officials.

Officials say the convictions reflect serious penalties for terrorism-related conduct and firearm offenses, stemming from a high-profile case that led to multiple arrests.
