Alien: Covenant (2017)
Alien: Covenant is a 2017 science fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott. It serves as both a sequel to Prometheus (2012) and a prequel to the original Alien (1979), continuing the origins of the terrifying Xenomorph species.
Set in the year 2104, the film follows the crew of the colony ship Covenant, which is en route to a distant planet to establish a new human settlement. When they intercept a mysterious signal from a nearby Earth-like planet, they decide to investigate — only to discover a dark and deadly world filled with secrets.
There, they encounter David (played by Michael Fassbender), the sole survivor of the Prometheus expedition, who has been conducting dangerous experiments. As the crew uncovers the truth about the planet and David's intentions, they face the deadly evolution of a new alien species.
Alien: Covenant blends philosophical themes from Prometheus—like creation, artificial intelligence, and the role of humanity—with the classic horror and suspense elements of the original Alien films. Michael Fassbender received praise for his dual performance as both David and the newer android Walter.
Though it had a mixed critical reception, the film is noted for its atmospheric visuals, intense action, and deeper exploration of the Alien mythos.
