This satisfied my curiosity about this lonely, painful sport.

Odekta’s story is full of challenges, ones that I hid in the film through symbols and narrative wisdom, but the quote above resonates with her sport. Without that persistence and strong will, her fate would have been her destiny. Her races are always about her running against her best time. Her focus is only on herself. Just her, the path, with a lot of patience, strategy, and persistence.

One is physical and the other metaphysical. I have to admit, one of the perks of doing these films that are story-heavy, is that I get to learn so much about something that I have never encountered before. Life is fascinating, and learning from amazing everyday people is so humbling. So grateful.
