A massive explosion involving Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket has drawn global attention after the vehicle reportedly erupted into a giant fireball during an engine test at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
The incident occurred during a routine “hot fire test,” a critical pre-launch procedure designed to verify rocket performance before flight. Dramatic footage quickly spread across social media, showing flames and smoke lighting up the night sky above the launch complex.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as all personnel had been cleared from the area before testing began.
Blue Origin described the event as an “anomaly” during ground operations and confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the failure.
New Glenn is the company’s flagship heavy-lift rocket and a key part of Jeff Bezos’ ambitions to compete in the rapidly growing commercial space industry. The rocket is also expected to support future deployments of Amazon’s Project Kuiper satellite network.
