Bali-pedia Today (Jan 3rd 2026): TUMPEK KRULUT

Tumpek Krulut is a holy day honoring Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa in his manifestation as Dewa Iswara/Kawiswara.

Krulut comes from the word "Lulut," which means compassion, happiness, and joy. During the Tumpek Krulut celebration, a purification ceremony (otonan) is held for the Sarwa Tetangguran (gamelan/musical instruments).

Just as the sound of gamelan music can evoke joy and happiness, Tumpek Krulut can also be interpreted as a day to cultivate compassion for others.

Bali Begins to Screen Tourists, Savings Balances Will Be Checked.

Starting in 2026, the Bali Provincial Government will check tourists' savings balances and itineraries (dates, times, and activity lists) during their visit to Bali. Bali Governor Wayan Koster stated that the goal of this policy is to ensure that only qualified foreign tourists are allowed to visit Bali. (source CNN Indonesia)

Mapeed usually accompanied by gamelan baleganjur (a traditional Balinese musical instrument), it is a beautiful cultural attraction.
