IT’S HAPPENING!

The Norwegian state continues to threaten future generations’ lives and livelihoods by drilling for new oil, and we have had enough. Six young climate activists along with and Young Friends of the Earth Norway are taking the Norway to the European Court of Human Rights.

This is the first time in history that a case focusing exclusively on new oil exploration is taken to the European Court of Human rights, and we are proud to shine an international light on the Norwegian hypocrisy that has been going on for far too long.

Norway is one of the world’s most resourceful countries and portrays itself as a green frontrunner, all the while exploring for more dirty oil in the middle of a climate crisis. The science is crystal clear: Even the International Energy Agency says if we are going to reach the climate goals in the Paris Agreement we cannot explore for more oil. Enough is enough!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all our supporters, and everyone fighting the good fight for climate justice. This victory is yours.

Ireland contributes disproportionately to the climate crisis, even though we have the means to lead the way to the (now dangerously overdue) transition to a low carbon economy and society. It is technologically and economically feasible for us to achieve this - and the Supreme Court has now ruled that there is *no legal basis* for a lack of political will.

We need to see substantial emissions reductions in the short-term. The government needs to step up!
