This week marks the start of a very meaningful project for the Xenon team – the construction of the new Ronald McDonald House beside the National Children’s Hospital in Dublin.

Our project team is now on-site and hard at work delivering access control and security systems on the project. With the build now underway, we’re proud to contribute to a project that will have a lasting impact on families across Ireland.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Ireland provides accommodation, care, and community to families with seriously ill children receiving treatment in hospital. The new House, located adjacent to the state-of-the-art National Children’s Hospital, will provide 52 bedrooms, making it the largest Ronald McDonald House in Europe.

We’re thrilled to contribute to a project that supports such an important cause.

Apprentice Spotlight: Lukas Szydlo

Q. What made you chose an apprenticeship here at Xenon?

A. I chose to do an apprenticeship at Xenon due to always having an interest in electronics and I always knew that it was something I wanted to pursue, the fact Xenon so close to my home made it the perfect choice to become an apprentice here.

Q. What does a typical day look like for you

A. A typical day for me is meet the engineers in the morning on site and head off to do either some kind of maintenance or new installs of CCTV, intruder alarm or fire alarm on various sites or commercial buildings.

Q. When did you start the apprentice and what stage are you currently on?

A. I started my journey with Xenon back in August 2024 and I am currently doing stage 1 – I am due to start phase 2 later this year.

Q. What is your favourite thing about the apprenticeship?

A. My favourite thing about the apprenticeship is that I get to earn while I learn and I also get to work in new locations and meet new people everyday.

Q. If you were to give someone considering the apprenticeship advice what would it be

A. My best advice would be make sure you have a genuine interest in electronics and you are willing to learn about computer skills. Finally you need to enjoy physical work to get the most out of it.

Our project team hit the ground early at Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant last week, and were rewarded with an amazing sunrise over Dublin Bay. 🌅

Work continues on the life safety systems upgrade at this key site, where we’re supporting Murphy Group in delivering a vital infrastructure project for the city.

💧 Wastewater from Dublin has been treated in Ringsend since 1906. The current facility, built in 2005, is now the largest in Ireland, designed to serve an equivalent of 1.64 million people. Today, it handles over 40% of the country’s wastewater treatment capacity.

Proud to play our part helping to protect and future-proof such vital infrastructure.
