In celebration of Red Hook Records’ 5th year anniversary, we present Peace Anthems, a multi-artist album gathering under a single, urgent theme: the pursuit of peace. Set for release on July 31, 2026, the record brings together thirteen exceptional musicians spanning generations and disciplines, each contributing original works that approach peace as both subject and sonic practice.

All profits generated from the album sales will be donated to the International Red Cross.

Today marks the official release of Shards, the eagerly anticipated recording by pianist Jason Moran, electronic musician BlankFor. ms, and drummer Marcus Gilmore. The album’s conceptual framework centers on fragmentation and reconstruction. As the liner notes observe, “the piano and drums fold into each other and themselves, looping back and forth between sound, data, past, future—information moving at the lightning speed of musicians’ minds.” Each musical gesture by these musicians leaves a mark in three virtual dimensions, shaping an infinite number of images as the record plays.

Following the critical reception of Refract, which The New York Times praised for its work “across medium and style, with composed elements and prepared loops,” Shards represents a maturation of the group’s collaborative language. The spectrum of ideas is broad. Meditative passages give way to exploratory abstraction, and angular rhythms coexist with lyrical melody.

Throughout, the production quality maintains Red Hook Records’ meticulous attention to sonic detail, presenting the trio’s intricate interplay with remarkable clarity and presence.

A beautiful night in the city of Reims, at the legendary hi-fi wine venue Atôme, kicking off the celebrations for Red Hook Records‘ 5th year anniversary. Our recordings were paired with the tastiest of grower Champagnes, generously provided by some of the deepest and forward-thinking winemakers of the region, throughout an evening that ended in the early hours of the morning.

Thank you to all the guests and all the amazing winemakers who attended. It was heartwarming to be among such a vibrant community of keen listeners. Much gratitude to Eric and Aline for organizing this incredible event 🙏

Today marks the pre-release of Shards, the highly anticipated new album from Jason Moran, BlankFor.ms, and Marcus Gilmore. The recording continues the sonic exploration the trio began in 2023 with Refract, which The New York Times praised for working “across medium and style, with composed elements and prepared loops.” Shards reflects a deepening and maturation of the group’s collaborative language, pushing further into the real-time design and construction of musical events.

To celebrate the announcement, Red Hook Records will release three singles leading up to the album’s full release on May 1, 2026.

2025 marks 10 years since Masabumi Kikuchi's passing. In celebration of his life in music, today we announce the pre-release of Hanamichi - The Final Studio Recording Vol. II, by the late Japanese pianist Masabumi Kikuchi. This album—following the critically acclaimed 2021 release—offers seven new tracks from the same December 2013 sessions. Recorded at the now defunct Klavierhaus concert hall in New York, on a magnificent, newly rebuilt vintage Steinway D, just two years before his passing in 2015, these sessions capture Kikuchi at the pinnacle of his craft. The album features his distinctive interpretations of beloved standards alongside expansive improvisations that showcase his unique capacity for abstraction infused with poetic beauty.

Produced by Sun Chung, engineered by Rick Kwan, and mastered by Alex Bonney, the recording exemplifies Red Hook Records' commitment to state-of-the-art sound quality. Every nuance of Kikuchi's performance is captured with breathtaking detail, from his delicate pedaling technique to his command of overtones at the margins.

Today we announce the pre-release of Solace of the Mind, the new solo album from pianist, organist, and vocalist Amina Claudine Myers. This recording - a follow up to the critically acclaimed duo with Wadada Leo Smith, Central Park's Mosaic of Reservoir, Lake, Paths and Gardens - stands as a testament to her uncompromising vision and singular voice, tracing a remarkable path from her beginnings in Arkansas church choirs to the forefronts of contemporary music today.

A longtime member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), Myers embodies the organization's pioneering spirit of musical exploration. "I found my home in the AACM," she recalls. "Everyone was encouraged to make our own music, do our own things. I began to hear more. I wanted to try different ideas." The AACM's remarkable legacy included fostering a musical community that radically challenged conventions while celebrating individual artistic identity.

Recorded both in studio and her Manhattan home, Solace of the Mind journeys through newly penned compositions, traditionals, and re-imaginations from the plethora of her back catalogue. This new album captures Myers' meditative performances, distilling these songs to their essence. Her deliberate pacing and nuanced spatial arrangements create an intimate listening experience that draws audiences deep into the music's intrinsic power.
