As we all know, Deric is a fantastic broadcaster on Ireland AM and Virgin Media Ireland , and is an incredible supporter of community groups all over Ireland, as well as telling the stories of people and organisations who might not ordinarily get a platform for their stories. Deric is also an amazing artist and I’m lucky to have bought quite a few of his stunning original paintings over the past number of years.
Deric’s latest painting is inspired by the fabulous Rhasidat Adeleke who won silver for Ireland in the European Athletics Championships yesterday 🇮🇪I’m thrilled to have bought this painting, and in a tiny way to show my support for Rhasidat👏👏
I’m disgusted with the horrible and unacceptable comments made on social media about this amazing girl’s magnificent achievement last night in Birmingham 🇬🇧 For me, it was really great to see the love that Rhasidat has for our country 🇮🇪 and to see how proudly she held the tricolour to celebrate her great success👏👏
As Nelson Mandela once said, “No one is born hating another person because of the colour of their skin. People learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love.”
