Family Acknowledgement and Month’s Mind Mass
Mary Anne Walsh (née Murtagh), affectionately known as Mrs W., Moneymore, Ballintra, Co. Donegal
The family of the late Mary Anne Walsh, R.I.P., wish to express their sincere gratitude to all who sympathised with them following their recent and sad bereavement.
We are deeply grateful for the kindness, support and compassion shown to us during Mary Anne’s wake and funeral. Our heartfelt thanks to all those who travelled from both near and far to offer their condolences and assistance in any way. Your kindness and generosity will always be remembered.
We sincerely appreciate everyone who sent mass cards, messages of sympathy and floral tributes, those who joined us online for the funeral mass, and those who made donations to North West Hospice, to which a donation of €500 will be made this week.
A special word of thanks to Fr Adrian Gavigan for his guidance, spiritual support and for celebrating Mary Anne’s beautiful funeral mass. We also sincerely thank Jude, the sacristan, for all his assistance; Brian O’Sullivan for the beautiful music; and everyone who participated in the mass in any way.
A very special word of thanks to all those who cared for Mum throughout her short illness.
I am deeply grateful to all the doctors and nurses who cared for Mum at Sligo University Hospital, as well as the NowDoc and ambulance services, Dr Huss, Dr Boyce, and all the wonderful staff at The Grove Medical Practice. I wish to thank John Begley and all the staff at Begley’s Pharmacy for their kindness to Mum over the years.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Áine, Aoife and all the weekend staff at Ballintra Health Centre.
I am sincerely appreciative of all of Mum’s personal carers throughout her illness for their professionalism, kindness and compassion, always ensuring that she was comfortable and treated with dignity. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to Ami-Lee, Patricia, Jennifer, Shauna and Susanna, as well as all the home support service coordinators working behind the scenes. I also wish to thank Jane and all the Occupational Therapists for their kindness and support, and Laura and Ciara, who also spent precious time with Mum.
An extremely special word of thanks to Margaret for all the kindness and friendship you showed to Mum, and for all the laughter you both shared together.
I am deeply grateful to each and every one of you who made it possible to fulfil my Mum’s wish to be cared for at home during her final few months. Your compassion, kindness and gentle manner in caring for Mum will always be fondly remembered.
I am also deeply grateful to the North West Palliative Care Team for all their support and advice over these past few months, and especially to Georgina, who stayed with me during the final few nights and made it possible for me to have those most precious moments with Mum.
Sincere thanks to R. Faulkner & Sons Funeral Directors, particularly Seamus and Enda, for the professional, dignified and caring manner in which they assisted with all the funeral arrangements. I would also like to sincerely thank Gayle and Patsy at the Tír Conaill Funeral Home for providing such a warm and welcoming space where family and friends could gather together and pay their respects.
Thank you to Nicole, Jane and The Thatch Coffee Shop for the trays of sandwiches, and to all the ladies who helped with the hospitality and created such a warm and homely environment, just as Mum would have wished.
I wish to thank Willie Ward, the gravedigger, who prepared Mum’s final resting place with such care and respect, and Shovelin’s Florist for the beautiful family floral arrangements.
To all our neighbours and friends who called to the house during Mum’s illness and after her passing, to those who called on the morning of the funeral, and to everyone who stood along the route to pay their respects on Mrs W.’s final journey, your thoughtfulness and support were deeply appreciated.
Thank you also to An Garda Síochána for the traffic management on the morning of the funeral, and to the Mill Park Hotel for the beautiful meal provided afterwards.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of my own and all the family’s deepest appreciation and heartfelt gratitude. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, brought comfort to us at a very difficult time and will never be forgotten.
Mary Anne’s Month’s Mind Mass will take place in St Bridget’s Church, Ballintra, on Saturday, 29th August, at 6.30pm.
May Mary Anne’s (Mrs W.’s) gentle soul rest in eternal peace.❤️
