LIGHT UP THE DARK
Please join us on our 1st Annual ‘Light Up The Dark’ Awareness Walk on Friday 22nd August in Naomh Bríd, Laghey / Balkintra F94KN80. The event is in conjunction with the turning on of their Walking Track lights for the winter months ahead. Music and refreshments on the evening. -------------------------------------+-
Why is this their story?, a nightmare on my screen,
I'm watching as they suffer, disbelief of what I've seen.
In this modern era, how can this be their life?,
They sit with painful hunger, I watch them pay the price.
Don't claim to understand it, is it politics or greed?,
In my eyes, from where I stand, seems evil is the seed.
For who could watch the starving, and let them fade away,
I feel their thirst, their weary bones, I go about my day.
My children don't know famine, their bodies do not ache,
And bombs is but a foreign word, clean water, theirs to take.
They ask me childrens questions, "why cant they just have food"?,
In helpless situations, the innocent will see the good.
I'll lay them down to sleep tonight, and there will be no cries,
No fear of closing eyes to dream, no chaos in their skies.
