Ballyhooly-based Blackwater Honey has created “Your First Year With Bees”, a 22-video series aimed at people considering beekeeping and those preparing to take on their first colony.

The series takes viewers through the practical realities of a first year with bees, covering everything from choosing a hive and sourcing bees to carrying out inspections, monitoring colony health and preparing for winter.

Mallow’s McSherry Electrical Takes Key Role in National Velodrome and Badminton Centre Project

McSherry Electrical Ltd., based in Mallow, has been appointed to deliver the specialist sports lighting solution for Ireland’s new National Velodrome and Badminton Centre at the Sport Ireland Campus in Abbotstown.

The €100 million development is due for completion in 2027 and will feature a 250-metre indoor cycling track and up to 12 badminton courts.

The Verdant Troupe to Bring Annesgrove Gardens’ History to Life Through Theatre

The Verdant Troupe will bring the stories of Annesgrove to life through theatre, storytelling and a guided tour of the historic gardens on Sunday, October 11.

Characters including Hilda Annesley, Lady Doneraile, Mainie Jellett, Frank Kingdon Ward and Elizabeth Bowen will feature, alongside Molly the servant and the famously cantankerous Doyle.

The Annesgrove Gardens Legacy Tour runs from 12pm to 2pm and promises a very different way to explore the history of this historic County Cork estate.

Riley Harrison has made his mark against Northampton Saints.

The former Mallow RFC player came off the bench for the Asia Pacific Lions and scored a try against the English Premiership side, lining out alongside international stars including Will Genia and Waisea Nayacalevu.

Meanwhile, Mallow RFC has named Dylan Walsh as captain of the men’s team for the new season, with Sean O’Riordan and Sean Glynn appointed vice-captains.

The Furniture Centre to Open New Outlet on Mallow Road

The brand new Furniture Centre Outlet store will officially open at 11am on Monday, August 31, at Sunbeam, next to Blackpool Shopping Centre on the Mallow Road.

The family-run business has been operating for 47 years and has been based in Blackpool for decades.

The new outlet will stock a range of new furniture, including sofas and suites, dining tables and chairs, armchairs, beds, mattresses, mirrors and lighting.

Mallow Swimming Pool is getting ready to reopen!

After months of redevelopment works, Mallow Swimming Complex has now been handed over, with Cork County Council staff back on site undertaking specialist training on the new equipment and systems.

Cllr. Gearóid Murphy has shared a look inside the upgraded facility, with the pool now filled and the final preparations underway.

Reopening is expected in the week beginning September 14, with opening hours to be confirmed by Cork County Council.

Concept Hearing Donates €5,500 Hearing Aids to Support Paudie Coady Auction

A fantastic gesture of support for Paudie Coady and his family, with Concept Hearing in Midleton donating a pair of Starkey Omega AI mRIC hearing aids, valued at €5,500, for the auction at this Saturday's fundraising night.

The donation comes from Diarmuid O'Connor, owner of Concept Hearing, as the community continues to get behind the Coady family.

The 80s Night for Paudie Coady takes place this Saturday, August 29, from 8pm at the Talbot Hotel Midleton, with MC Fanta and DJ Alan O'Sullivan.

Tickets are €20 and are available from the Talbot Hotel Midleton reception, cash only, or through Fanta.
