We round off Season 2 with another special guest - Lucia's good friend, Jessica. In this episode we discuss her book choice, which was 'A Face Like Glass' by Frances Hardinge. Join us to hear our thoughts on naive young protagonists, mad geniuses and the parallels that can be drawn between literature and current world affairs. Oh, and giggling - lots of giggling.

Happy !

Yesterday I featured some of my beautiful stamped hardcovers and today I made an actual showing off my collection of sprayed edges.

Do you like sprayed edges? I am fairly new to the concept but I think it adds a whole other level of uniqueness to a book.

I think it’s way past time that I bring you my about A Court of Thorns and Roses.

📚 Synopsis:
In a forest bordering the magical land of Prythian, the responsibility of caring for her family falls on Feyre's - the youngest of three daughters - shoulders. While hunting for food, she makes the mistake of killing a Fae disguised as a wolf and is taken to Prythian as punishment for the murder by Tamlin, High Lord of the Spring Court. There she encounters different faeries, sees the softer side of her masked captor and learns of the existence of an ancient curse. In an effort to break said curse and prove her love, she will have to rely on all of her skills to survive...

📚 Thoughts:
This is my second time reading this book and while I really liked it the first time, I enjoyed it much more the second time around. This is primarily because, originally, I thought Sarah J. Maas was copying Beauty and the Beast too heavily. However, while the basic premise is the same, ACOTAR expands on it and takes the story in a very exciting, different direction.

I really enjoy Maas's writing style, I find her books very easy to read and the story just flows really well. But, for me, it's the large cast of characters that hooked me. Feyre is complex and capable and I loved her arc. Tamlin is equal parts brutish and protective, while Lucien is quippy and loyal. But, inevitably, it's Rhysand who steals the show 100% with his wicked sense of humour and mysterious motives.

I originally gave ACOTAR 4 stars but this re-read it's definitely worth 5 stars. I just loved it, especially the final third of the book.
