Shocked and saddened to hear the tragic news that Glen Hansard died last night in a one vehicle motorbike crash near Lucan. Glen's passing is a massive loss to the Irish musical community and all the charities and humanitarian causes he so valiently pursued during his lifetime. He leaves us with an incredible musical legacy that will be performed and celebrated for years and years to come. Our editor John Brereton says, "Glen was a Ballymun boy, I was from nearby Santry, so we hit it off straight away when we were both starting our musical journeys back in the 1980's. We would meet in the legendary haunt The Coffee Inn and shoot the breeze, great times. The Frames first live gig was supporting my own band back in the Baggot Inn and it was apparent even then that Glen was a special talent. I hadn't seen him in a couple of years but bumped into him two weeks ago outside The Winding Stair Bookshop where, after a great catch up, he introduced me to his wife Marie and their young kid, Christy. Our thoughts are with them now as they face into the dark". Rest In Power Glen.
