Over 100 Years and Still Making Waves! -How Fast Can You Go?
Tucked away, full of dust, in the corner of an old barn an invention of a 2 stroke engine that helped shaped the world 100 years was discovered. It survived the great depression and WW2 as it was small enough to be tucked away and made of material that wasn’t deemed as useful. This little model 2 stroke engine was made to fetch harvest nuts from an old walnut tree-river going 18 mph. This engine they made more than waves going up-river, to fetch harvest nuts on a favorite walnut tree! It was an inspiration of business and 4 brothers, a brother-in-law, and the collaboration of others in engineering in a change in transportation, recreation, and how we live our lives today.
It takes collaboration as Individuals have different strengths and together can accomplish unimaginable potential; working together on an invention, examining different perspectives, or changing laws can have a huge impact on business and on our lives in general. An example of how collaboration can make dreams become a reality is how the Johnson brothers worked together to create the Johnsons' first outboard motor design. Little did the four brothers Lou, Harry, Julius, and Clarance know that their dream traveling up-river, at a whopping 18 miles per hour at the time, would become a leg that revolutionized change for the World! The first spark of their dream ignited a passion, but it was the collaboration and perseverance, that ultimately delivered the most innovative two-stroke design for future boat motors and then motor racing. It also resulted in paving the way for future designs for aviation.
Their design and opening of a business didn’t happen overnight. Starting a new business or new concept takes time and like their motor, you must move fast; sharing ideas is a vital part of building something new or changing ideas, and protecting the ideas is also critical. Even though the Johnson brothers faced 8 years of economic challenges, including the Great Depression, the competitive marketplace competing against other engineers trying to perfect a fast outboard, the (Model T Ford), and unknown attitudes toward new products, their determination made it possible for them to deliver their product to market; it was the sharing of these ideas with the airplane industry, which led to the progress towards modern aviation. This took gumption, resilience, and the belief that they can succeed with all odds facing them.

Below is a picture of the first series of, 2-cycle innovative engine, that was the invented by the Johnson Brothers. The actual production of this Johnson Model A began in December 1913, with the help of a college student. Good recommendations spread and 7,000 of the outboard motors went to customers in 1923. Later they were used as a mono-plane engine, for flights happening around the World, for recreation, and motorboat racing. The Johnson Brothers' pioneering spirit is an ongoing inspiration. After all their challenges in their monoplane, they shifted venue and produced the world-famous Johnson Outboard Motors.
The Johnson brothers began by working toward constructing a 2- cycle outboard motor, which was to travel to a walnut tree upriver. The first motor they designed was first ultimately used for an airplane engine, which later enabled them to make America’s first monoplane flight. They also strapped a motor to a bicycle as a helper engine. They were instrumental in pushing aviation forward before the Wright Brothers. When asking Elle why focus on the people and what made you feel why not continue working with others..
Getting to know Elle, Her father worked as a steamfitter for a union called Local 38 and her mother was a school teacher then a professor at the university. Elle grew up in a little town on a horse ranch. She said that being a single mother without any support and having two children to raise I did what my parents taught me. Use the tools you have and work to your with and to passion. I started in Ireland and Italy because living in Scotland I was up against Brexit and growing up most of my family friends were either Irish or Italian being in the union it felt more comfortable amongst people who were like family. Not having any family in these cultures really made me feel like they were an extended family. while not being able to leave Europe so my children would stay in contact with their father it made more sense to start a business where people felt like family. It was also my experience in working with multi national companies that the Italian market was always first to want to help in change and to me had shown in these companies very good leadership in change programmes so the first launch was in these. Elle is expanding through 28 countries throughout the European Union, Britain and America. Elle says we are welcoming new talent all the time and would love to hear from anyone who is interested in joining the team.

A Mystery Behind a Beautiful Painted Landscape
Is it lost art, a found treasure, an espionage message from WW2, or is it just a beautiful painting of a picturesque landscape? This painting on display, amongst many others from an art collector’s gallery, stands out, above all others and draws the attention of a consumer. The attraction is not just from the scenic beauty of Austria, Hinderbarenbad, the Kaisertal, the Kaiser Chain Mountains, or the quaint Antoniuskapellethat made it noticed. It was not even the well-known artist’s name, or even the painter himself. This oil landscape captured the heart of an art appraiser due to a little piece of paper, that was attached to the back of the painting. It piqued curiosity and intrigue as if it had belonged in an Agatha Cristy mystery.
The beginning quest for answers came after searching for the artist’s signature, MOSER, written all in capital letters. Although Moser is a well-known artist, the signature on this painting was not a match for any other artists of the same name. The puzzle began and It became clear that the only way to find the original story behind this painting, was to follow the small message on the back of the stretcher. This might be a trace to its roots. It was this old typewritten message that first caught the collector’s eye. The message read: “Painting: Capt. Maier said it was Hinter Baerenbad Kaiser chain mtns.”
The quest for answers originated with trying to determine who Captain Maier might be, the location of the church in the Kaiser Chain Mountains, and the purpose of the old typewritten message. There seemed to be many dead-ends. Many of the Internet searches produced some information, but then fell short of supplying any further clues; the search for Captain Maier produced the name Heinrich Maier, and the search for Hinter Baerenbad led to the conclusion that the name had been misspelled and should have been Hinterbaerenbad. Since it appeared that the painting might be from the first part of the 20th century, a good start would be searching for information around World War 1 and World War 2 officers. This led to the first disappointment. An email from the Austria War Museum confirmed that there was no Captain Maier during WWII. Although there have been hints that art was used to send messages, during the war, the museum conveyed that there was no confirmed evidence of this. Should the search end here, or was it merely the wrong information source?
Rather than being discouraged, the search for history became more intriguing; more questions came to mind. Could it be that Heinrich Maier was a captain in the religious resistance and supplied messages through espionage to the OSS? Could the artist, Moser, painted this for a purpose? Why is the O and the E underlined in the artist’s signature? It became clear that the story that was held within the painting was just as important as the information about the artist. It appeared that the next step was to determine if this was just a naïve painting, with a simple message on the back? If this was only a simple painting, then why were there misspellings in the name of the location, and was there a point to the incorrect capitalizations in the letters? As curiosity deepened, the search for the answers continued.

While searching for clues, a deeper thought emerged; the knowledge that during World War II a lot of valuable art went missing or stolen. Some artists were commissioned to paint as a means for propaganda. This awareness led to additional questions. Could artists also paint for the purpose of espionage? It seemed unnatural that an artist would be out in the wilderness painting this scenic landscape in the middle of a devastating war. He was only miles from the German border. At this point, an additional question developed: What impact did the Kaiser Mountains have in WW1 or WW2? It became clear that a key to the painting might be to investigate the history of that fascinating message, that first captivated the collector.
While reflecting on a story about a famous man in Italy, it seemed unlikely that this was an innocent piece of art, painted during a devastated, war-ridden country. The Italian, Gianfranco Briani, who founded Volleyball, in his home country, had been a heroic, brave, twelve-year-old boy during WW2. Gianfranco’s brother had been captured. Like many people, though-out this time of the invasion, the boy summoned his courage to travel at night, on his own, from Rome to Vienza (Venice). As most of Italy was under a curfew, this was particularly dangerous. Another important thought came to mind: What other acts of bravery would be accomplished, as people looked for ways to subvert attacks?
The investigation seemed to circle back to the beginning: Who was Captain Maier and why were the letters O and E underlined? Was it possible that our subject was the famous Heinrich Maier? Could the artist’s Captain Maier, have been this same Heinrich Maier, who was one of the most heroic leaders of the religious resistance? The aim of this group was to bring an end to the horrific regime, by military defeat, as soon as possible. In addition, to re-establish a free and democratic Austria. Maier is purported to have sent coded messages to OSS and UK under the codes, during the war. He is remembered for outsmarting the Gestapo for many years and providing the allies with information to save Austria. If he was the famous resistance hero, could this have been a coded message? Might the author’s signature, all in capitals, with the O and E underlined, have been part of a cipher? Also noted, was the off-center en within the type-written message. Another memory surfaced; it was of a who-done-it mystery with the code within a code; the possibilities seem endless.
While it has been said that the value of this painting is for the beauty of the landscape, rather than the intrigue of the message on the back, one cannot dismiss the coincidence of the name and the chances that there is more to this painting than the art itself. It is true that it is a beautiful landscape, but as you look more deeply, it stimulates an interest in a time of courage and bravery for preserving freedom.

Whist Radio CPD has spent months launching EU Commission reports on change. It too needed to change its offering to add tourism and helping tourism with change whist we face the biggest changes in the world within 300 years! The managing Director says that law’s and world economies will need support as governments enforce health warnings laws are not in support of the warnings and the general public are faced with having to put high risks in business efforts to stay in service and in family law lawyers are using the law which is different then the government to create turmoil in families.

Place’s like Zeffiro’s one of the most famous elite restaurants off amalfi still attracts local residents to keep in business. Whilst social distancing and keeping masks on they are still keeping the Italian exuberance going. Noted for their amazing fresh seafood dishes and one of the most talented chef’s in Amalfi, Zeffiro’s has something else it offers, the hearts of people. The owners and staff is what makes the restaurant and beaches in front the special extras to keep going.
