Punk-rap duo Bob Vylan, who recently faced a storm of condemnation- including from the UK Prime Minister- over a pro-Palestinian chant at Glastonbury, were hosted by Sinn Féin TD Eoin Ó Broin for a tour of Leinster House and a meeting with Oireachtas members today. Ahead of their Vicar Street gig, the pair met with Sinn Féin and other pro-Palestinian politicians, including People Before Profit, Independent, and Social Democrats representatives, but not those from Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael.
Ó Broin stated the visit was intended to show Irish political support for the musicians' "very strong stand against genocide" in Gaza, noting the risks involved in their political engagement. The duo's visit coincided with a pro-Palestine protest outside, where they were greeted with applause and stopped to take photos with supporters.
