A high-stakes security alert on the Luas cross-city line in Cabra ended in comedy after a "suspicious device" discovered by maintenance workers turned out to be a s*x toy. Found near Fassaugh Road at 3am on Tuesday 7 August 2018, the object initially sparked panic because it was a clear cylindrical tube wrapped in insulating tape with protruding wires and ball bearings, appearing to resemble a viable explosive.
Local Gardaí were prepared to call in the Army bomb squad (EOD), but a sergeant’s closer inspection revealed the item was actually a discarded adult toy, bringing the early-morning emergency to a swift and unusual end.
