What does it take to build a creative agency with a clear point of view — and then land a client whose work has already become part of the cultural zeitgeist?

This week on the Irish Marketing Podcast, I sat down with Miriam Hendrick and Bobby Byrne, two of the principals behind Ringers Creative, for a wide-ranging conversation about agency life, creative philosophy, and what it really means to solve a ‘proper problem’.

They spoke about how Ringers approaches a brief — going far beyond what’s written on the page — and discuss the fear and excitement of winning a competitive pitch for Donegal Catch, a brand whose ‘filing cabinet’ line has already embedded itself in Irish culture.

They also talk candidly about office culture: why ‘ego parking’ matters, how a no-dickheads policy actually works in practice, and what the Ringer ambitions are for the coming years.

If that doesn’t intrigue you, Bobby reveals all about the cash cow that was his lawn mowing side hustle 🟩✂️💶

Episodes 38 & 39 of the Irish Marketing Podcast feature some fantastic voices!

In Episode 38, Peter McPartlin and Sharon Mooney from MarkGo - Let’s Go Marketing talk about a new venture that caters to a mid-market who are being left behind when it comes to proper marketing support.

The MarkgGo team have built something specifically for companies that can’t justify a big agency retainer but absolutely need strategic direction. MarkGo’s answer is to bring senior thinking to businesses that typically wouldn’t have access using a platform which is AI powered but human guided.

And in Episode 39, ahead of an IAPI - Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland event next week I spoke to Robin Bonn from Co:definery about how ad agencies can create a Market of One for themselves. Brendan Almack and Lisa Woods from Wolfgang Digital dig into why so many brands are seeing a sharp drop in organic search traffic and, more importantly, what they can do about it.

We took the Irish Marketing Podcast on the road this week — all the way to the Podcast Show in London.

It was a brilliant two days soaking up the atmosphere, speaking to some of the sharpest minds in audio, and getting a real sense of where the industry is heading.

Todays pod is a summary of the main talking points from Islington. I spoke to Acast Content Director Jennifer Dollard, audio advocate Tom Webster and Ruth Fitzsimons from Bauer Media Group about the key trends and takeaways coming out of this years conference.

On this weeks Irish Marketing Podcast I spoke to two award winners from last weeks Media Awards

Grand Prix winners Katharine Wolinska and Daniel Hickey from EssenceMediacom break down Lidl’s groundbreaking product placement partnership with RTÉ’s Fair City — how a retailer became woven into the fabric of Ireland’s most-watched soap, and what it really takes to make branded content feel genuinely authentic.

Tara Moran from Virgin Media Ireland joined me fresh off winning Sales Team of the Year. She told me what the award really means and how it’s recognition for all the work no one sees. She also spoke about the Diageo & PHD accessibility project that changed industry standards — bringing Irish Sign Language and audio description to live Six Nations coverage, reaching over 500,000 people who had previously tuned out of premium sport.

We finished with a quick run down of what’s coming next from Virgin Media Television

Two conversations. Lots of inspiration. Well worth your time.
