Over the past two weeks I’ve had the privilege of working with a group of remarkable, determined and inspiring women at Near FM

These women decided it was time to step behind the microphone and see what they could do with it.

Community media is about making space for people to speak and be heard. Space where people know their voice matters.

Communities are stronger when more voices are part of the conversation. More often than not, voices do not simply appear in public spaces. They are fought for, invited, encouraged and supported.

On International Women’s Day, I am especially grateful for the women who are willing to step forward and be heard.

The world needs more women on the airwaves!
Have you ever listened to the radio and thought: “Why does no-one talk about…? Why does no-one ever play…? I’d love to do that!”
Then this is the course for you. Learn the skills to become a community media broadcaster on Near FM and host your own radio programme. No experience necessary.
Starting on 25th February (09:30–13:00), this course runs for 6 Wednesdays and is almost fully booked. If you’re interested, email [email protected] for full details.
