I'm up to high doh here

In a survey by the LPSI, it confirmed 70% of Irish workers have experienced workplace burnout, with women twice as likely as men to report it directly.

The most affected group was aged 35-44, and only a third of respondents said they rarely worked through their breaks. Burnout is often ignored or normalised in Irish culture, masking a deeper mental and physical struggle.

Chronic stress and burnout can severely impact immune function, heart health, memory, and emotional well-being, with many women experiencing physical symptoms without realising they're stress-related.

Jenna Ortega says she fell in love with Ireland while filming Wednesday.

It was her first time visiting the island, and she made the most of it, exploring all over the country and expressing pride in how much of Ireland she managed to see.

Filming took place at Charleville Castle in Offaly, Dean’s Grange Cemetery in Dublin, and Ashford Studios in Wicklow, which helped set the gothic tone of the series. Ortega also commended the Irish crew for their skill and dedication, saying they felt “like a family.”

She mentioned that the only challenge was fighting the vibrant green scenery of Ireland which would almost clash with the Addams Family’s moody aesthetic. Still, Ortega summed up her time simply, “Everything about Ireland was so beautiful.”

Well that's me never swimming in Kerry again.

A sturgeon, long thought extinct in Irish waters, has been spotted off the coast of Kerry, the first confirmed sighting since 1987. Known as a ‘dinosaur fish’ for its 150-million-year history, the sturgeon can grow up to six metres and is famous for producing prized caviar.

Once common in Ireland, sturgeon populations disappeared due to overfishing and poor water quality. Ecologist Anja Murray says the sighting could support efforts to reintroduce the species, as seen in parts of Europe, though many Irish rivers still lack the clean conditions needed for them to thrive.

A new report shows that one in four Irish doctors are working over 48 hours a week, and more than 1,000 left the profession last year, many to work abroad.

The Medical Council says poor working conditions, burnout, and lack of career opportunities are driving doctors away. Some international doctors also struggle to find jobs in Ireland.

The Council is now calling for urgent action to improve doctor recruitment, training, and retention before the situation gets worse.
