Dear facebook friends
As Autumn draws in we wanted to give you an update and possibly something to look forward to in the cooler days to come.
As you know ‘Waterway’ had its first screening at the Galway Film Fleadh in July. It was such a treat for us to see it on the big screen and to get some really positive reaction from members of the audience.
They say the first screening is the hardest because you might discover your baby is in fact a turkey! Luckily the reaction was largely positive and we have since been accepted at a variety of other festivals.
Our next public showing will be October 8th as part of the Kerry Film Festival. Straight after that it heads to Offaly for the Offline festival – screening in The Chestnut in Birr on Friday 10th of October.
It will then be in Cork as part of the Indie Cork festival beginning October 13th and towards the end of this year’s festival circuit it will screen at Waterford Film Festival on Sunday November 9th. Up the Déise!
Meantime we need to show it to you, our beloved friendss! So here’s the plan…..
Your first opportunity to see it outside the festivals– in other words our first Funders’ Première – will be Saturday October 11th in Lough Allen Hotel and Spa, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim. We will screening there as part of the launch of Waterways Ireland’s ‘Blueway’, a stretch of water in the Leitrim area that has been ear-marked for canoeing and tow-path walks. It is a really beautiful run of water and was the setting for our film so has a very special place in our hearts.
The Blueway launch will be happening over the entire day on the 11th and the Waterway screening will take place at 6pm to bring an end to proceedings.
We’d love to think some of you might be in the North West at the time and happy to join us there. You’d be more than welcome to bring your canoe or walking shoes and join in the rest of the day’s events too.
If that’s not a runner then we still have a Dublin Première to organise – which will happen before the winter closes in – and as soon as we have a date and location for that we’ll be back on to you.
Until then.… stay well, keep in be the wall and know that you’re forever on our list of ‘reasons to be cheerful’.
Yours in low-budget film-making and love-of-nature,
Carrie, Catherine and all the team at Yellow Village Pictures.
