Tara is an independent press set up as a result of the electronic publishing revolution. Our first title, published in 2013, is a third edition of the 1984 novel, "The Summerhouse" by Val Mulkerns. Initially brought out by the legendary publishing house, John Murray (Byron’s publisher), it's now available in paperback, Kindle and e-book format. "With the likes of Cáca Milis, really, anything is p

ossible" - Patrick McCabe
(intro to "Red Lamp Black Piano") Our second title, kicking off with an introduction by Irish author Pat McCabe, presents the work of 50 writers and poets who performed at 'The Cáca Milis Cabaret," a vaudevillian evening of the Arts. From Dermot Bolger to Erin Fornoff; Eoin Colfer and Emer Martin - over 50 different contributors make this an anthology with a punch. The latest title from Tara Press is a retrospective collection of the work of Irish author Val Mulkerns, bringing together a selection of short stories starting in 1916, in the prison cell of a rebel, through hard times in Dublin of the 1930s and the changing face of the country in the 50s and 60s. It culminates with the quintessential 80s piece, "Memory and Desire" which Colm Tóibín described as, "one of the finest short stories that has been published in Ireland for many years." It is available in Spring 2016, see http://www.tarapress.net for further details

Dubray in Grafton Street was the location for a wonderful evening last night to celebrate the launch of “From No To NASDAQ,” the debut title from Irish businessman Gareth Sheridan. Gavin Duffy was on hand to charm the crowd as MC, with Professor Tom Cooney of TU providing some excellent back-story on Gareth’s student days. Attendees travelled from the US and further afield to be there, and in the house was Serguei Melenick, the author’s long-time business partner.

Thanks to Gareth for coming on board with my indie imprint Tara Press; and for being a good sport about my fussy edits! I’d also like to thank Orlaith Carmody for introducing me to him, putting the project in motion and for some stellar editorial direction. With designer Heidi Sheridan on board for the eye-catching cover and Sprint Books in Tallaght doing their ever-excellent printing, it’s a fine debut.

Not afraid to tell a good yarn, Gareth is a classic Irish raconteur. His words come from the hip in a warm, accessible style that takes us through his extraordinary journey. It makes for a sometimes bumpy ride as we hear the downs as well as the ups of building a NASDAQ-listed business, with the help of some excellent partners and in the face of quite a few challenges.

With the book’s insight into the high-octane world of high finance and its honest story, this is a book that will be fascinating for any reader – business or not – but is especially valuable for up and coming entrepreneurs.

Looking forward to tomorrow night's launch of our latest book, "From No To NASDAQ" at Dubray, in Grafton Street. It's the story of how Irish entrepreneur Gareth Sheridan developed a business from a college thesis idea to a multi-million dollar company listed on the NASDAQ. Delighted that Tara Press was able to publish the tome – and very best to author Gareth Sheridan with his debut title!
