🚨 Thursday’s top stories from Fingal and across Ireland

A mix of transport, housing and major court updates is making news today, both locally and across the country.

⚖️ Stephen McCullagh has been told he must spend at least 31 years in prison for the murder of Natalie McNally. Natalie was 15 weeks pregnant when she was killed in 2022, and the case has drawn wide attention across Ireland.

🚆 MetroLink has taken another step forward, with early works around Dublin Airport now moving into focus. Officials say this is an important stage in the project, which would give the airport its first direct rail link and make journeys between Swords and the city much faster.

🚨 Two people have been arrested in connection with the death of Qayyum Balogun in Dublin city centre. Gardaí are continuing to investigate the attack and are asking anyone with footage or information to come forward.

🚗 The Government is looking at a possible new support scheme for electric cars. Under the idea, drivers could receive up to €5,000 if they scrap an older petrol or diesel vehicle and switch to an electric one, although the plan has not been officially launched yet.

🏘️ Construction has started on 193 new social and affordable homes in Kinsealy. The development will include houses, duplex apartments and local facilities, with all homes expected to be finished in 2028.

📍 Gardaí are still appealing for witnesses in the case of Alex Coughlan, who died after an assault in Blanchardstown last month. Investigators are especially asking anyone who was in the Mill Lane area on the day of the incident to come forward.
