Boulder Media Boulder Media is a Dublin based Animation studio. Established in August 2000.

Boulder has been working with leading broadcasters such as Cartoon Network US (Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends), Nickelodeon (El Tigre) the BBC (Funky Fables), Cartoon Network UK(The Amazing World of Gumball), and most recently a commission from Disney Europe to produce their first original feature Randy Cunningham: Ninth Grade Ninja. Throughout all of these larger productions we have still fo

und time to produce almost a dozen pilots for Disney, Film Roman and the BBC. As well as nurturing our own talented crew by investing in many in-house short films, which have gone on to be screened at film festivals around the world.

Happy Friday all! Let's take a look back at another Boulder production - today, the spotlight is on Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy!

Back in 2017, Boulder was commissioned by Hasbro to develop and produce Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy. The series ran for two seasons - over 100 episodes! - and is centred around veteran Rescue Bots Heatwave, Chase, Blades and Boulder, as they train a new class of young recruits at the Academy.

The show's storylines often highlighted the importance of teamwork and friendship, and as we directed everything in-house - from pre-production through to animation and final delivery - the theme of working together was more relevant than ever!

Happy Thursday! Time for another throwback to one of our great projects.

In 2014, Boulder Media produced Fresh Cut Grass, written and directed by studio founder Robert Cullen. The short film follows a young dog leaving his home in the countryside to visit his big sister in the city. He soon discovers, however, that the bright lights are hiding something...

A coming-of-age story that celebrates sibling bonds, the short's use of colour, light and expressive animation plays with visual storytelling to result in a delightful viewing experience.

Selected for screening at many festivals worldwide, Fresh Cut Grass's accolades include: Best Animation at the Galway Film Fleadh 2014, Winner of the Audience Choice Award at the Dublin Animation Film Festival, Best Animation at UKFF 2014, and Best Animation at the Delhi Shorts International Film Festival.

It’s Thursday and we’re back with another look at a Boulder production from the last 25 years. Today let’s talk about Transformers: BotBots.

A spin-off of the popular Transformers franchise – and the first ever comedy series in the Transformers universe - BotBots was released on Nextflix in 2022. The show is set in a shopping mall after it’s struck by a mysterious cloud of Energon gas, that turns several everyday objects into tiny transformable robots who come alive once the mall closes each evening.

Handling everything from art, animation, visual development and styling in-house, we embraced a fun and eclectic art style for the series. BotBots is a story full of heart and friendship, with characters that appeal to boys and girls alike - perfect for the whole family. Available to watch on Netflix now – share some of your favourite moments below!

It’s Thursday, which means it’s time to spotlight another of Boulder’s productions!



This week, we’re revisiting Brother Ezekiel, a powerful animated short written and directed by Leon Elliott.



Created in 2019, the short film is set in 1960s America and follows Ezekiel, a weary traveler who stops at a small-town motel in search of rest. What unfolds is a quiet yet thought-provoking look at human nature and the everyday moments that reveal so much about society.



Released online in 2020, Brother Ezekiel showcases striking visual storytelling and emotional depth from the Boulder team.
