Pictures from previous years have always hinted that Hagerty UK Festival Of The Unexceptional is somewhat of a misnomer. However after visiting for the first time it’s clear that it is far beyond that and is one of the most exceptional car events ever hosted. The variety on display is frankly overwhelming, such a vast display can easily consume hours of your day before you’ve even noticed.

Would sir like every available option in the Vauxhall neck tie range?

Sure a Saab 9000cse is chic but it’s positively common when compared with a 9000CD

How about the earliest known surviving Xantia in the UK? A well known car in Citroen circles (yes they exist, no honestly)

Any backwards cap wearing youth can go out and buy a Clio valver or 182, but a Clio RSI? Surely it’s the thinking man’s choice

BMW may think they’re cool, but they’ll never be as cool as when they made Fiji Green cars

The second place car of the show was taken by this Previa which is showing just over 23,000 miles on the odometer, which in Previa terms is basically delivery mileage

Yes, it’s had the 1:24 Bburago scale model on the parcel shelf

By law, you must appreciate every 1st generation Espace, it’s just how it is

A very welcome sight in this parish, a run out model Vogue SE

Not a run out model Concorde but instead an Alize edition, and no matter what shade of green it is, it’s BTCC green

A befitting second car to any Laguna driver is of course the 3rd generation Espace, with enough cubby holes to lose and entire child

Whens the last time you saw either of these

Even the drive in the gate was exceptional

Never talk to me or my son ever again

And of course, we would be nothing without our chariot for the weekend. A huge congratulations, and thank you, to for buying this 1 owner Toyota Previa and immediately putting it to use as our transport for the weekend. It only compounded the experience into one that must be repeated.

With 24 hours to go until our next live show, let’s take a quick look back at the real star of the last one. The Lotus Esprit Turbo, a car that despite its Bond heritage and wedge styling is still underrated today. Endlessly cool and even more so when you squeeze one into a coffee shop, and surprise, it came back out far easier than it went in. What you don’t get to experience in a coffee shop is just how flat you sit, the greenhouse effect that the raked windscreen provides and most importantly the unbelievable woosh of the wastegate in your right ear as you drive.
