Simon Cumbers Media Fund A fund to promote more and better quality coverage of development issues in the Irish media.

In 2005, a little over a year after the tragic death of Irish journalist Simon Cumbers, Irish Aid - the Irish Government's programme for overseas development - established the Simon Cumbers Media Fund to honour his memory. The aim of the Fund is to assist and promote more and better quality media coverage of development issues in the Irish media. Two rounds of funding are allocated every year: one

The death has been announced of Deputy Foreign Editor at The Irish Times, David McKechnie. David was a former Fund recipient who reported on peacebuilding in Colombia. He was a guest speaker at journalist briefings and endorsed many applicants to the Fund.
