When I saw that Falling In Reverse had released “JOSEPH” featuring Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Serj Tankian of System Of A Down, I knew I had to check it out.
I’m a huge Slipknot fan and have been a massive fan of System Of A Down for years, so seeing Corey Taylor AND Serj Tankian appear on the same Falling In Reverse track immediately caught my attention.
But… what did I actually think of it?
“JOSEPH” throws absolutely EVERYTHING at you — operatic vocals, huge cinematic production, breakdowns, dramatic changes and a blockbuster-style music video. There is a LOT going on, and for me, that actually became the problem.
I found the music video almost distracting at times because there was so much happening visually, while the song itself constantly switches between different styles and sections. I struggled to really take the track in before it moved on to the next change-up.
Despite my love for Corey Taylor and Serj Tankian, this first experience with Falling In Reverse didn’t really convince me to dive deeper into their music. Maybe I’m missing something, so let me know in the comments — especially if you’re a longtime Falling In Reverse fan.
