Hello dear friends of 'German mit Juli'. I hope you are all having a great day. German can be a tricky language with a lot of tough grammar! Don't give up, you will get through this!

Do you know for instance the difference between 'KEIN' and 'NICHT'?

Have a look at the pictures. 'Kein' is used for things you can count while 'nicht' negates an action or a verb. 'Nicht' is often placed at the end of the sentence while 'kein' is positioned in front of the noun. 'Kein' also changes depending on the noun's gender and number.

Keep learning with fun, with success, with Julia!

Dative or accusative case that can be very confusing in the German language. Some verbs require the dative, others the accusative and also some prepositions require the accusative or the dative. Not easy! For example the verb 'finden' (to find) is followed by the accusative: 'Ich finde ein blaues Polohemd.' (WEN finde ich? --> accusative). The preposition 'auf' (on/upon) can be followed by either accusative or dative. When you can ask 'Wo finde ich...' (Where) then you need to use the dative case. --> auf dem Sitz (on the seat) / Wo finde ich das Polohemd? Auf dem Sitz --> dative case. 'Was findest du auf dem Sitz?'
