Migraine Ireland has officially launched the Irish Headache Society, the first multidisciplinary headache society of its kind in Ireland. A major new study from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland has found strong links between heavy social media use, body dissatisfaction and sexting behaviours with poorer mental health and increased risk of self-harm among Irish teenagers. New national figures from the HPSC show a 41% rise in first-time HIV diagnoses among women in 2024, with the sharpest increase seen among women aged 45 to 49. To mark World AIDS Day, HIV Ireland warns that persistent stigma is still undermining HIV prevention, testing and treatment and is calling for a committed National HIV Action Plan. The organisation notes that late presentation among women can lead to worse health outcomes and that stigma continues to be a major barrier to accessing services.
