🚹 Urgent: Add Your Name Before 17 Sept 🚹

On 17 September, we will hand in the Civil Society Open Letter demanding that Ireland join the Hague Group, a bloc of nations taking real action to end complicity in Israel’s ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.

Every day, Palestinians face mass killings, forced starvation, displacement, and the destruction of homes and livelihoods. We cannot stand by while war crimes are committed in plain sight.

The Hague Group has pledged to:
❌ Stop arms transfers to Israel
❌ Block the movement of military goods
❌ Cut state support for the occupation
❌ Ban trade with illegal settlements
❌ Enable prosecutions for international crimes
❌ Push for sanctions and accountability.

Ireland must follow their lead and join the Hague Group by 20 Sept!

👉 Sign the petition today and ask Ireland to stand on the right side of history.
👉 Then share it and send it to at least one friend. Together, we can multiply our efforts and make this call impossible to ignore.

Stand with Palestine. Stand for justice. Stand for accountability. Add your name here: https://bit.ly/HagueGroupPetition

George Morrison directed the film 'Mise Éire', which was based on footage and photographs which he had compiled from archives across Europe. It told the story of the revolutionary period in Ireland. Seán Ó Riada composed the film's famous score.

We are sorry to hear about the death of acclaimed Irish documentary filmmaker George Morrison.

In 2018, Morrison generously donated his archive to the National Library of Ireland. The archive reflects a career spanning more than sixty years and shows a remarkable commitment to Irish film. đŸŽ„

The donation comprised of photographs, ranging from lantern slides to photo albums, as well as production notes, scripts and correspondence relating to Mr Morrison’s work in film; all of which paint a comprehensive picture of his creative practice.

Hi all. I have a really frustrating issue right now.
Six years ago, we filmed the SeĂĄn Treacy commemoration in Dublin. It is a hundred year old tradition which takes place every time Tipperary reaches the All-Ireland hurling final. This year is the first time since 2019 that they have done so, beating Kilkenny in a thrilling semi-final. It is something I have looked forward to filming for a long time. Except... I may have COVID-19 again. There is a really infective strain going around right now, and I was on public transport last week. It turns out not even an FFP2 mask is totally effective.

If by some chance a test is negative and I'm feeling better by Sunday, I will post here, but the likelihood is that I will have to miss this occasion. However, there are definitely more videos in the pipeline and I will battle my fatigue to get what can be done, done.
Greetings, Claire.

Come with us to the Hill of Tara, "Teamhair na RĂ", or Tara of the Kings, and feel the atmosphere at this sacred ceremonial site as the sun goes down at the ancient Celtic festival of summer solstice.

We have a tradition of going to the Hill of Tara at sunrise to mark the Celtic ritual of Winter Solstice. In fact, one of our earliest videos was of the solstice sunrise of 2007. However, 2024 was the first time I was able to go, so although this video isn't our best (the high winds made it impossible for me to hold the camera still) it's memorable for me because of the special stillness and atmosphere. (Hard to capture because the winds nearly blew out the microphone, but I think it translates.) It's a video I like to rewatch from time to time. Afterwards, we went for breakfast in Dunshaughlin, which is also recommended.

Winter solstice (grianstad an Gheimhridh) has been observed since Neolithic times in Ireland. Many people gather at ancient ceremonial sites to mark the shor...

Did you know that Ireland wanted to fight against Italy's fascist regime in the 1930s? We've just made a short about the fascinating history of Ireland's military neutrality. For anyone who wants more context, I plan a longer video soon. (Reuploaded due to copyright issues.)

Tomorrow (May 28th) is the anniversary of writer Anne Brontë, whose father was from Ireland, so here is a short about her life. Though she died at 29, she leaves a lasting legacy of one good and one great novel. Due to controversy surrounding its portrayal of domestic abuse, her sister Charlotte decided to refuse permission for The Tenant of Wildfell Hall to be reprinted after Anne's death, and her denigration of the novel as a "mistake" has influnced critical thinking ever since. Nevertheless, it is not only a feminist novel, it is a great novel in its own right, worthy of standing beside Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre as an equal.

If you would like us to make a longer video about the Brontë family's Irish links (and some will definitely surprise you) please let us know.

On the anniversary of her death on 28 May 1849, we remember a writer with Irish and Celtic roots who strove to represent the truth in her works 'Agnes Grey' ...

The Seville Declaration on the Nice Treaty in 2002 spelt out the ‘Triple Lock’, requiring UN authorisation along with Government and Dáil approval if our troops are deployed overseas.

This assurance was repeated in 2009 to get the Lisbon Treaty approved, but the promised ‘Lisbon Protocol’ of 2013 merely redescribed that Treaty, without even mentioning the Triple Lock.

The present Government’s Programme reaffirmed the Triple Lock, its key resting in the People’s hands; now they propose to unpick the UN lever without reference back to us.

Their claim, now, that what we voted for in Nice and Lisbon in fact leaves our hands empty, and their hands free, means that in each referendum Governments were either deceptive or negligently uninformed.

On either scenario the People, fulfilling their constitutional role of “final appeal” under Article 6, were fatally misled in 2002 and 2009, creating a constitutional crisis.

This must be addressed by a genuine, widespread and thorough public scrutiny of our currently incoherent foreign and defence policies, with a Referendum on any further proposals.

Legislation that will remove the requirement for UN approval when deploying members of the Defence Forces outside the State has been published.
