We are looking for dedicated editorial staff and writers to take Misc. into 2023. Since 1894, Misc. has sought to capture the social and cultural spirit of Trinity campus, through humour, features, columns, and more, and we are seeking a strong and committed team to continue this legacy.
Deputy editors will assist the editor in the day-to-day running of the magazine, the editing of articles, the creation of pitches, the approval of pitches from writers, and the long term development of the magazine’s mission and identity. Previous experience in student journalism preferable.
The social media manager will be responsible, with the assistance of senior editorial staff, for the running of the magazine’s social media accounts, advertising articles on social media, and boosting engagement. Prior social media admin experience of any kind preferable.
Misc. has an extensive collection of archives stored in Trinity’s Old Library, dating back to our very first issue in 1894. The archives editor will be responsible for delving into these archives to find old articles, issues, art, and other material to share on our website and social media. This offers a fascinating glimpse into Trinity’s past and the many stories and characters which have filled its campus and publications.
We’re looking for writers to write regular articles on a chosen theme throughout the term. Topics can include personal commentary, humour, arts and culture, history, or any other interest a writer has, but it must have a recurring theme and must relate to college life in some way. Writers need not have fully formed ideas when pitching, we are just looking for people with the interest and commitment to writing weekly or fortnightly articles.
Features writers will work on in-depth articles, interviews, and longreads throughout the term. These will revolve around campus life, news, and personalities, and capture a sense of the social and cultural spirit of Trinity, as Misc. has always sought to do. Open to writers of all experience levels.
