This is the Iceland hike you can’t miss!

After spending 10 days in Iceland, this hike was one of our favorites! It’s definitely not an easy hike, but it’s well worth the views at the end!

📍 Múlagljúfur Canyon located in southeast Iceland

What to know:
- This hike is about 4.5 miles out and back if you hike to the top of the canyon! About 1,350ft of elevation gain.
- To reach the first viewpoint (where this video was taken) you only have to hike about 2.4 miles out and back. About 600 ft of elevation gain.
- We hiked to the top of the canyon and spent about 3.5 hours on the trail in total!
- Wear good hiking shoes because the terrain can be uneven and there’s some scrambling!
- Paid parking at the end of a gravel road. We were able to drive it easy in a 2wd vehicle in the summer! Just be careful of potholes!
- There IS a toilet!!! 🚽

Don’t miss this overlooked waterfall on the south coast of Iceland!

📍 Kvernufoss

This waterfall is often overlooked, but it was one of our favorite waterfalls in Iceland! There were so few people around that we could actually sit behind the waterfall and not feel like we were in other people’s way! 🤯

The parking for Kvernufoss is right next to Skógafoss. You can actually walk from one lot to the other so you don’t have to pay for parking twice!

Listen to my pro tip and take your shoes off!

This was one of my most memorable moments in Iceland because I took my shoes off to run through the water in front of 📍 Vestrahorn!

Most people were just standing back taking pictures, but I got the urge to get my feet wet (literally). I almost walked all the way to the base of the mountain… it was so peaceful and quiet.

You HAVE to add Vestrahorn to your Iceland itinerary!

What to know:
- The best view is from Stokksnes
- Enter Stokksnes through the Viking Cafe (just put that in Google Maps)
- You have to pay to enter, but it’s so worth it
- Even if the tide is to low to see the reflection, it’s worth visiting
- You’ll want 1-2 hours to explore this area

Luckily I don’t have to pick just one! 💦 🏔️

👋 Hi!!! We’re Brian & Steph! We just got back from our first trip to Iceland and WOW, we were blown away! Visiting Iceland was a lot less intimidating than we’d thought it would be… so if you’re thinking of going, follow along and we’ll share some tips with you!

One thing we love about Iceland is how much you are forced to be in nature! The weather can be intense, with strong winds and rain! Honestly, we love braving this kind of weather and getting down & dirty!

BUT, we also love the bougie hot springs! We visited the in Akureyri and absolutely LOVED it!

Send this to the person in your life who loves to get dirty, but also appreciates a relaxing spa day. 💅
