LauraLynn celebrates in style at its own OSCARS

LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, celebrated six children and their families at the LauraLynn Oscars 2026, a unique and inspiring project that transforms children’s ideas and imaginations into original films for the big screen, culminating in a special red-carpet awards ceremony at ODEON Cinema, Charlestown.

Hosted by Amy Huberman, the event was made even more memorable when special guests Domhnall Gleeson, Amy Huberman, Arthur Gourounlian and Paul Howard surprised the LauraLynn families and joined them for the very special celebration.
The annual LauraLynn Oscars puts children’s creativity, humour and imagination centre stage, giving each family the opportunity to celebrate their child’s unique story and see their ideas brought to life on the big screen.

The event creates precious moments for families to enjoy together, while celebrating the joy, creativity and resilience at the heart of every story and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

First all-island network of local authority heritage professionals to be established

The announcement was made at the Heritage Council’s inaugural all-island conference for heritage professionals, ‘Shared Island: Building Connections, Exchanging Knowledge’, which took place at Monaghan Peace Campus as part of the new Shared Island Heritage Networks Programme, a new five-year programme led by the Heritage Council and funded through the Shared Island initiative.

Paul Curley’s Bake! is among more than 60 exciting arts experiences for children and families taking place across venues throughout Galway City as part of this year’s Baboró International Arts Festival for Children.

Final Call to Register and Join Over 1,400 Clean Coasts Volunteers across Dublin for the Big Beach Clean 2026

Over 200 groups and more than 5,000 volunteers nationwide have already signed up to join the Big Beach Clean from the 18th to the 20th of September, to remove marine litter from our coast and take part in an international citizen science project.

Celebrating its 31st edition, Science Week will explore water at every scale from the smallest molecule to the vastness of our oceans and examine how water has shaped our lives and how we can protect this vital resource.

ALMOST 7,000 GO PINK FOR BREAST CANCER IRELAND!

Leopardstown Racecourse was awash with pink yesterday as almost 7,000 men, women and children came together for Breast Cancer Ireland’s Very Pink Run!

From running and walking to scooting and plenty of laughter, the event brought together people affected by breast cancer, their families, friends and supporters all united behind an incredibly important cause.

Among the well-known faces showing their support were Dancing with the Stars judge Karen Byrne and fiancé Jake Carter, Hazel Chu, Jennifer Wrynne, Elaine Crowley and James Patrice, alongside influencers Chris Connolly and Terrie McEvoy.

The Very Pink Run has now welcomed 110,000+ participants from over 40 countries and raised more than €8 million for pioneering breast cancer research.

All funds raised support Breast Cancer Ireland’s pioneering metastatic breast cancer research and national awareness programmes.
