Lesley speaks about when her love of Theatre began and her experience writing and performing in short films and acting in Soap Operas. She also speaks of her experience working with Pat Shortt in "Mattie".

Lesley also tells us about her new show that will be playing in the dlr Mill Theatre inspired by "The Dead" by James Joyce. The show will run for a short time beginning Thursday the 18th of June until Saturday the 20th.

🎙️ Tonight at 9pm Radio Irlanda is bringing you two artists who have turned passion into a career.

🎸 Ilario Maggi picked up a guitar as a kid in Avezzano and never looked back. Trained at the Conservatorio dell'Aquila, he has played with symphony orchestras, big bands and top artists across Italy. Today he teaches music at the University of Osnabrück and keeps creating.

🎤 Anna Turrei is the kind of artist who makes you stop and listen. Singer, songwriter, actress from Sonnino, she has stood on the X Factor Italy stage, won the Premio Lunezia and just dropped her new single "Ma chi te lo fa fa'". Raw, real and impossible to ignore.

Alfonso, Gaia and Vale sat down with both of them. You are going to want to hear this. 🎵

On Dublin’s Historic South at 3pm:

Episode IX is the Halloween Special recorded over Zoom, all about the Dublin Mountains and Laura Fitzachary welcomed back the fabulous Camilla Pedersen to the show.

Camilla hails from Denmark but currently resides in Maynooth, and her focus of study is on Viking period mythology and narrative tradition. Her other areas of focus are Old Irish linguistics and prehistoric and early medieval archaeology, and she has been published on her topics, most recently in 2019 with Amsterdam University Press.

Taking a break from the usual format, this episode examines how local traditions, customs and lore echo across this landscape's summits. Across the peaks of the Dublin Mountains, we examined prehistoric burial tradition and how it is interlaced with mythology and the otherworld at Giant's Grave and of course, the Hellfire Club. From the dark side of fairies to following the perambulations of the devil himself, this month's show reveals a darker side to South Dublin's history.

"Away to War", first broadcast in 1995.

RAF Officer Dr. Aidan MacCarthy from Castletownbere, Co Cork recounts his incredible experiences from Dunkirk to Nagasaki during World War II.

An RAF medical officer, Dr Aidan MacCarthy had either the very best or the worst of luck throughout World War II. As a young doctor he survived Dunkirk and endured three years as a Prisoner of War (POW) during which he was beaten, starved, torpedoed, and nuked.

Despite stumbling from one appalling situation to another, he managed to not only survive, but also to help those around him, in his capacity as a doctor, and as a fellow human being.
