Ahead of his upcoming and highly anticipated collaboration with renowned composer Liam Bates at the National Opera House, Emmy-nominated singer and PBS host Michael Londra has admitted that he has a feeling it will be his “last time to perform” on the Wexford stage.

Michael Londra and Very Special Guests takes place on June 9 and will see choirs from Ireland and the United States, under Liam’s conductorship come together alongside local artists Mark Redmond and Rachel Grace.

The Ames Chamber Artists from Iowa, USA will travel to Ireland as part of a cultural exchange and concert tour, which is being filmed for Ireland with Michael, the PBS series. The Kilmore Community Choir will also mark a milestone with its first performance on the National Opera House stage.

With crunch time upon the Wexford Senior footballers in their bid for the Tailteann Cup, John Hegarty and his side are ready for the challenge a dangerous Leitrim will bring when they lock horns on Saturday.

“We’re familiar with them and played them a couple of times in the Tailteann Cup and have played them in the league obviously, some of them infamous encounters,” Hegarty said.

“I suppose both teams are ever-evolving, it is a new management, we haven’t played them since Steven Poacher has taken over, I’m sure he’s bringing a bit to them.

“We’ve looked at the videos and they had a huge win over Sligo in the Connacht championship and put it up to Galway for the whole lot of the semi-final so they’ve had a respectable championship.

It’s hard to believe that exam season has come around again so quickly. This can be a time of intense emotion for many young people and their families. While the Junior and Leaving Certificate exams are academic milestones, they also carry a lot of emotional weight and can bring up anxiety, self-doubt, pressure, fear of failure and uncertainty about the future. It can even represent a time of grief and loss around changes and endings.

As parents, it’s natural to want to encourage and support your child. Therefore, understanding what may be happening beneath the surface emotionally can make an enormous difference to how supported and regulated they feel.

For many young people they feel that pressure comes from many different directions — school expectations, peer comparisons, social media, and family hopes. And often it can also be the pressure they put on themselves.
