I was shooting on Devenish Island in Co. Fermanagh earlier this year. As the day was winding down, we were losing light and packed up to leave on the barge.

It's always good to stay alert though, because who knows what glorious visual treat will fall into your lap. I managed to get a quick shot of the sun going down behind the Round Tower as we were sailing away.

I shoot projects all over Ireland, and I love how often animals get curious and want to take a closer look at what I'm doing.

Ireland is consistently ranked as one of the friendliest countries in the world; I guess that extends to our wildlife too!

Similar to my last post about shooting at sunrise, if you want to create photo or video content outdoors, consider doing so at sunset.

You avoid the harsh shadows that you get with the midday sun being directly overhead, and the vibrant colours really make your content stand out.

This photo (taken on my phone) is of a field behind the Breaffy House Resort in Mayo last year. Nothing really stands out about that particular field during the day, but once the sun starts going down, the colours and textures come to life.

Create better content just by shooting at a different time of day!

It means an early start, but morning light can be beautiful with the right conditions. If you want to create some video or photo content of your office/venue/premises, consider capturing it at sunrise.

I had an early start for a shoot in Belfast City Hall earlier this year, and couldn't help but spot the rising sun glowing off the building.
