Ragaire is now seeking poetry, short stories, creative nonfiction and cover art for Issue 5.
We are open until 15 Jan 2026 or until our maximum number of submissions is reached.
Ragaire is a Galway-based magazine edited by Cormac Culkeen, Alleen McCarthy and Lucy Bleeker that champions emerging West of Ireland writers, as well as other Irish and international writers who offer fresh perspectives and different approaches to telling a story.

Ragaire is now seeking poetry, short stories, creative nonfiction and cover art for Issue 5. Ragaire is a Galway-based literary magazine edited by Cormac Culkeen, Alleen McCarthy and Lucy Bleeker.

New Unpublished Writing :
We welcome poems, short stories and creative non-fiction in English from Ireland and abroad.

SHORT STORIES of at least 1000 and no more than 3,000 words in length.
CREATIVE NON-FICTION of at least 1000 and no more than 3,000 words in length.
POETRY: Up to three poems, each poem no more than 40 lines.

Editors do not have access to any author identifying information during the reading and selection process.

New Artwork :
COVER ART: We welcome cover art from any artist living in or from the island of Ireland.

Thank you to everyone who shared their work with us, we were honoured to receive it. Only a tiny percentage of the poetry, fiction and non-fiction submitted could be chosen for Issue 4. All selections are now made and please let us know if you have not heard from us.

We’re delighted that two contributors to Ragaire Literary Magazine will part of the 25+ Galway writers reading in Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop this Culture Night, Friday 19th September.
Culture Night is about celebrating creativity and community, and we’re proud that Ragaire writers are bringing their work to life in one of Galway’s most beloved bookshops.

Fiona and Caitríona’s writing can be found Ragaire Issue 3, alongside poetry, fiction, and non-fiction from some of the most exciting emerging voices writing today. Copies of Ragaire Issue 3 will be available on the night in Charlie Byrne’s.
