Ardán and RTÉ are delighted to announce the latest round of the Ardán / RTÉ Short Film Commission Scheme! 🎉

This year through the support of RTÉ there is an increased budget of €18,000 towards the production of a 7 to 10 mins short live action film, an increase of €3,000.

The scheme is an opportunity for a team consisting of individual Irish-based writers, directors, and producers to apply as a team for the award.

Ardán and RTÉ will be looking for an engaging film script which can be produced into a short film which will connect with audiences.

The produced film will broadcast on RTÉ2 Shortscreen and feature on the RTÉ Player.

Each team member must have made a film in their given role and have links to previous films, and the team needs to show a track record of creating high quality films on time and within budget.

The team must include a separate Writer, Director, and Producer.

NOTE: Due to Ardán’s ambition to provide opportunities for each main role of writer, director and producer, applications from writer/directors will not be accepted.

The selected team will receive mentorship from an experienced industry expert for each role. Previous mentors have included directors Dearbhla Walsh, Lisa Mulcahy and Brendan Muldowney, producers Martina Niland, Katie Holly, Laura McNicholas and writer Mark O’Halloran.

Recent short films made as part of the Commission are The Radio, Misread, Remote Strutting and Little B*tch.

To be eligible, the team members must be habitually resident in Ireland and each member must have made a short film in their relevant role previously. A person can only apply as part of one team for the scheme.

Films can be based anywhere in Ireland and the rough cut needs to be delivered by 17th July, 2026.

The info day will be held online on Friday 12th December, from 12pm to 2.00pm.

Applications will close at 4pm on Wednesday 21st January 2026.

Applications must be made through the form at the blog post in the link https://ardan.ie/funding/ardan-rte-launch-the-short-film-commission-for-2025-2026/
