A bustling creative hub on Ireland’s west coast, Galway has long been celebrated as a place with extraordinary cultural heritage, geographical diversity & a beauty that seems exclusive to the county itself. From picturesque Connemara to the stunning Aran Islands, from the vibrant cultural melting pot of the city to the county’s castles & mansions, Galway’s beauty is famous worldwide.

Galway has a rich heritage as a hub for filmmaking, and as home to the Galway Film Fleadh, Ardán, TG4, and the HQ of Screen Ireland, it continues to play a vital role in the Irish Screen Sector, featuring in ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’, ‘The Watched’, ‘The Guard’, ‘Death of a Ladies Man’, ‘Calm With Horses’, 'Foscadh', ‘Garage’, ‘Marley and Me’, ‘An Bronntanas’, ‘The Quiet Man’, ‘The Field’, Into The West’ and ‘Poitín’, and more. Element Pictures' ‘The Lost Children of Tuam’, will be filmed in the county this September.

Galway City of Film is a designated UNESCO City of Film; this allocation acknowledges Galway City & County (Ceantar Scannán), through film, the Irish language & TV. Danú Media's 'Ros na Rún' celebrates 30 years in production this year, & the county has been featured in ‘An Klondike’, ‘North Sea Connection’, ‘Ireland’s Wild Islands’, ‘Jack Taylor’, & more.

Galway is home to a diverse range of production companies that contribute significantly to the region’s thriving AV industry. These include post-production specialists like Cue One, commercial and corporate content creators such as Unbound Media and GK Media, and production companies like Abú Media, Fíbín Media, and Tua Films that put an emphasis on Irish-language content. The area is also home to production companies like Black Gate Productions and Éiru Films, as well as animation studios Telegael and Moetion Films.
