Dear Entropy, the new single from The Line, is out now on all your digital yokies.

The Line is the pseudonym of Tipperary-born, Dublin-based musician and sound artist Brian Dillon, who feels that he has never quite been able to escape the line of identity that separates his life from the lives of others. ‘Dear Entropy’, is Dillon’s first release under The Line moniker since 2024 single Sacrifice Is So Passé, which followed the acclaimed 2023 album Red Blood Cells & Righteousness (4 stars, The Irish Times and 8/10, Hot Press).
A soothing yet hypnotic electronic ballad driven by a repeated piano pedal note, the song’s synth pads and a waltz-like drum-machine beat underscore the artist’s digitally-effected vocal, resulting in a textured lullaby about love, restlessness and the intersection of the two.

Strange Brew presents
THE DRUMS
Mike Joyce Book Tour
Saturday 04 April // 2pm // Róisín Dubh

As a band, The Smiths need no introduction. Formed in 1982 and disbanded in 1987, all five of their studio albums reached the top five in the UK charts. They are widely lauded as one of the most influential bands of all time.
This is Mike’s open-hearted story of what it was like to play the drums in The Smiths. Throughout his honest and witty reflections, Mike answers the question ‘where did it all go right?’ - a question he and bassist Andy Rourke, with whom he had a deep and very special relationship, used to often ask each other.
Rather than simply retelling the well-documented iconic moments of the history of The Smiths, in The Drums, Mike conveys ‘the feeling’ of his time in the band. His off-piste, frank perspective allows him to recontextualise the canonised stories with beautifully vulnerable, human insight. His story will resonate with the millions of Smiths fans who will rejoice in joining Mike in his love and admiration for the band that changed lives and provided such rich inspiration to the musicians that followed them.

Gruff Rhys
Sat 24th January // Róisín Dubh
On sale Friday at 10am from roisindubh.net

Gruff Rhys is a touring songwriter and recording artist based in Cardiff, Wales who has consistently sought a variety of outlets for a wide spectrum of creative ideas that include 26 studio albums to date.

Renowned for their blissful melodies, his solo albums have explored untapped areas musically and lyrically. 2021’s Top Ten charting Seeking New Gods climbed fresh lyrical and musical terrain, a conceptual record about his own mountain and became his most critically and commercially successful solo album yet. 2024 saw the release of its follow up, the widescreen, baroque pop ‘Sadness Sets Me Free’. Recorded on the outskirts of Paris with his band, it garnered further rave reviews and was widely acclaimed to be amongst his finest work. 2025 sees the release of his latest Welsh language album Dim Probs.

We survived the storm and the power outage, but a bit late this week, but we got there in the end. And yes, that is the noise of my baby chickens who currently live in my office.
