These two sides once again produced a great game of camogie, very physical with end to end stuff on the very dry surface in front of a large crowd in Pairc na Ratha.
Both sides threw everything into it from the throw in sussing each other with great one to one battles and movement throughout the field. In a low scoring first half with frees edging Mooncoin into the lead at half time Glenmore 0-4 Mooncoin 0-8.
Glenmore started the second half the much better team with some great team scores and a hard earned team goal eventually making its way to the back of the net by Laura Doherty. This third quarter was Glenmore’s purple patch, but as always when these sides meet Mooncoin never go away , & with a gut wrenching long distance effort greatly saved by Liz in goal from going over the bar somehow made it’s way to the net. Mooncoin were back in the game and finished out the game eventual winners FT Glenmore 1-7 Mooncoin 1-12. Both sides only recorded 4 scores to 5 in the second half Glenmore 1-3 Mooncoin 1-4, a closely contested and tough opening game which will suit both sides. Glenmore will take a lot from this game it was a good performance with lots to go away and work on also.
Next weekend Glenmore take on Barrow Rangers, away in Round 2.
