In line with the new government guidelines, we need to postpone the next few week’s worth of screenings. But we’re only pressing pause, and we will be rescheduling every single one of the remaining films.

The response to the film club has been terrific, and now more than ever it’s clear just how important great cinema is to us all. Tickets will be valid for the new dates, and full refunds on individual tickets are also available.

We’ll announce the new dates (via email to ticket holders and across social media), in the coming weeks once we know when we can reopen the club safely - and we very much look forward to welcoming you back then!

***This Week! ONE LAST DEAL by Klaus Härö*** PLEASE NOTE: We are only running the Tuesday NIght Screening (22nd) this week, and not the Monday night screening.

An elderly art dealer Olavi (72) is about to retire. A man who has always put business and art before everything - even his family - cannot imagine life without work. At an auction, an old painting catches his attention. Olavi suspects it is worth much more than its starting price, which is low because its authenticity hasn't been confirmed. Olavi's instincts kick in. He decides to make one last deal in order to earn some proper pension money. Olavi manages to buy the painting, but when the auction house realizes that there has been a mistake with the original pricing, they turn against him. To fulfill his dream, the old dealer must face both the auction house and his own past mistakes.

PAPICHA: This debut feature from Mounia Meddour is one of the few films that got tongues wagging at the Cannes Film Festival and we are thrilled to present it at Subtitle. Papicha (which means ‘beautiful girl’) is set during the Algerian Civil War of the 1990s, also referred to as the ‘Black Decade’. It tells the story of a free-spirited, fashion-loving young student, Nedjma, whose freedom is increasingly curbed by sinister conservative forces, until there is nothing else to do but either rebel or leave — the kind of stark choice which resonates as much today as it ever did. The film fizzes with an energy and freshness that mark it out as special; one of the main reasons for this is the striking performance of Lyna Khoudri in the leading role.
