As I sat in the courtyard, looking at this ancient tree that seemed to braid itself towards the heavens, I couldn’t help but feel moved.

There’s something about the crumbling ruins of a place that halls and arches have been filled with hundreds of years of history, faith, love, and loss that feels like there are human secrets to existence hidden within its cold stone.

And only steps from this spot, you enter a cemetery. A place we remember those before us, we honor them, we love them.

And at the center of all that death, there’s this tree, alive and growing and outlasting our human lifetimes again and again.

Maybe the secrets aren’t in the stones of these ruins, maybe they’re in the tree.

And as the wind blows through its rustling leaves it tells us all the things we need to know.

Keep going, through life and death, we are all connected and time is the illusion of separation between what was and what will be. Perhaps they all coexist simultaneously. ā¤ļø

Looks like a scene straight out of Sleepy Hollow. šŸ‘€

Couldn’t believe how lucky I was for these perfect foggy conditions which was from the frost (it was REALLY cold).

In addition to this haunted looking forest, we also explored an abandoned and run down castle off the side of the road.

Who’s down for exploring spooky places? šŸ‘»

Day eleven: quality vs quantity.

I read today from a creative person I look up to that his creative pursuits only increased in quality through quantity.

But often times the pursuit of quality reduces the quantity you’re willing to create to completion.

Basically, you’re trying so hard to be perfect that you don’t finish your art. By not finishing you rob yourself of the opportunity to create something great.

So I’ve decided to give myself permission to not be perfect. That not every photo I take and ā€œfinishā€ and post will be perfect or even great.

But by continuously allowing myself the grace to create without perfection, hopefully some day along the way there will be a few I’m really proud of. ā˜ŗļø

Day ten: rough around the edges.

This is my favorite photo I’ve taken so far. Something old, rusting, and left in someone’s yard.

Rough around the edges, but beautiful in its own right. Seems like there’s a metaphor somewhere in there. 🄰

Day five: resting.

I've been doing yoga and stretching again, almost every day. But then I pulled my lower back out...like BAD. I could hardly walk or stand up straight for a few days.

But it's the strangest sensation that I know this isn't just about overworking my back, it's all the emotional and mental pain being expressed through my physical body.

So now I'm trying to rest. Rest deeply. Emotionally, mentally, and physically.

PS: this cutie was rescued by my friend during the hurricane and is up for adoption in the Tampa area. ā¤ļø

Day four: moody and cinematic. Dark days behind and ahead. But without darkness, we cannot understand the light.

I love how photography allows me to tell a story with just a single snapshot of time. I think next I'll lean more into cinematic and film-inspired photos.

Also, experimenting with creating more videos to double down on storytelling.
