In my interview for the Connacht Tribune, I touched on so many things — music, creativity, and what it really means to follow your calling.

In this post, I’ll lift the curtain a little on how The Dreams Loft came to life — the story behind, and the journey that made it real.

And if you’d like to dive deeper, you can find and read the full interview in the Connacht Tribune. 🎶🗞

Charity CD 🥹❤️

This was the final stage of Alanna’s charity CD, which will be available for purchase shortly!

She got backing tracks from the internet and then I recorded the vocals here at the studio.

Sometimes I don’t always agree with a singer on the way she’s sang something, but we both have a common objective - to make the song as good as possible!

You love your work because it’s always full of surprises.

No two days are ever the same.

One day you’re recording a meditation for someone who’s never stepped into a studio before, helping them find the courage to express a message from the heart.

Another day, you’re setting up mics in an ancient Irish church to capture the sound of a live orchestra — with all the magic of natural acoustics and candlelight.

Some days you’re working with professional musicians, other days — with people who don’t even consider themselves “artists,” but who carry powerful stories or emotions they want to share through music or voice.

There are days when you’re coaching someone gently through their first ever voice take, and days when you’re editing a complex multi-instrumental mix.

And then there are the little moments: the laughter in the booth, the breakthrough take, the late-night edit that suddenly clicks.

The quiet joy of knowing that something you helped someone create will be sent out into the world — to comfort, uplift, inspire.

That’s why you love it. It’s not just creative — it’s human. You’re not just making sound; you’re helping people say something meaningful, in a way they never thought they could.

Following the success and recent tour of Outer Mongolia, is back in the studio to record a cover of ‘Dark End of the Street’.

There are many versions of this song and Pete worked out the song and laid down vibrato guitar and piano for Liam to sing on.

We’re due to get real drums tracked soon and delighted to have Liam back after all this time!

He’s also joined a choir down in Kildysart and hopes to record them at some point too!

🎶 Working with AI on your songs… and feeling shy about it? Don’t be.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with using new tools to explore your creativity.

Many talented people write beautiful lyrics or poems but don’t have experience in composing music — and that’s where AI can lend a hand.

Sometimes, the melody it suggests becomes the spark for something truly special.

In our studio, we’ve already helped several artists turn their AI-generated ideas into real songs.

We can transcribe the music (write out the notes and structure), refine it, and bring it to life with professional sound and production.

✨ Whether you’re stuck in a creative block or simply curious to experiment — you don’t have to do it alone.

AI can inspire, and we can help you turn that inspiration into something tangible, something beautiful.

Your music matters — no matter how it begins. ❤️

😢😢😢 Sometimes life writes stories that are stronger than any song.

This is Vega — a dog Polina once found on the road after she had been hit by a car.

With broken teeth and a fractured spine, she went through surgery, months of rehabilitation, and eventually learned to move again with the help of a small wheelchair.

But then came the war.

Vega stayed in Ukraine with Polina’s elderly mother, who has been lovingly caring for her all this time.

Now the wheelchair is broken, tied together with strings, and she struggles to move. Yet her spirit hasn’t broken. She still fights, still hopes.

This October, 10% of every studio session at The DreamsLoft Records will go towards a new wheelchair for Vega.

Or, if you wish, you can support her directly — she just had her birthday in September, and the best gift she could receive is the chance to walk again.

Every bit of kindness matters. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts ❤️

🎙 Let’s break the myth. How Often Should You Release Music? ⬇️

🎯 Finding Your Optimal Release Schedule as an Independent Artist
Striking the right balance between quality and consistency is key when planning your music release strategy.

Understanding the rhythm that works for you (and your fans) is crucial for sustainable growth. Not just creatively — but emotionally, mentally, and professionally.

🔹Because emotion isn’t always in the obvious places.
🔹Because mixing isn’t balancing levels — it’s balancing feeling.
🔹Because sometimes, you’re too close to the song to hear what it really wants to say.
🔹Because production is not about control — it’s about care.
🔹Your voice + your truth + a producer who gets it = music that moves.
🔹Anyone can record a song. But not everyone can make you feel it.
🔹That’s what a good producer does: finds the soul inside the sound.

🌟 IMRO - Celebrating Success🌟

Wonderful news — Marie Crehan’s new song “Planets” is finally out there getting the airplay it truly deserves! 🚀✨

Marie came into our studio a while back, and honestly, she’s every producer’s dream — she just sang straight from the heart and trusted me with the music. I focused on what would best evoke the feeling behind the song.

Together, we created something that Marie was delighted with. 🎶💫

The hard work has paid off — this track has been receiving extensive airplay and was even featured on IMRO.ie! 🙌

As Shauna Fay wrote on IMRO.ie, “Planets” is already bringing a wee bit of hope to the airwaves”. 🌍💜

We couldn’t be prouder of Marie and this beautiful song. Here’s to more milestones ahead! 🥂✨

Have you heard them on BBC Radio yet? 🌍

What could be more wonderful than watching talent find its listeners across the world? ✨

Texan Spitfires’ music is now playing on BBC Radio in the UK, on Mexico’s legendary El Rocanrosaurio show, and across European playlists – a wave of sound travelling far and wide. Critics call their songs:
🎸 “romantic, heartfelt lyrics and authentic sound”
🎶 “dreamy guitar solo, soulful voice, mellow vibe”

Here at The Dreams Loft Records in Belharbour, Co. Clare, we feel genuinely proud to have been part of this journey. Pete Duffy produced and mixed the tracks for The Nashville Tapes and the singles now reaching listeners everywhere.

Warm congratulations to David and the whole Texan Spitfires team – your music is crossing borders, winning hearts, and it feels like this is only the beginning.

Our Story

The Dreams Loft was originally founded in 2013 as a songwriting studio to enable singers who didn’t play an instrument a way of bringing their songs to life. Operating from a loft in Gentian Hill, Salthill, Galway and this is where the name comes from! The business grew and we quickly outgrew our premises and moved into a more comfortable area in Newcastle. Pete grew his skill base and did many recordings and started working with Emma Hayward Video Production, filming The Dreams Loft Sessions and putting out videos regularly.

The city is still noisy though and so Pete went on a quest to find complete peace and quiet. He found a place and now The Dreams Loft is based on top of Hazel mountain in the Burren. Despite the remote and tranquil location, it is still only a 40 minute drive from Galway and we’re here to stay (for the moment)!
