I first sang “Sonny”, at a play, in St Mary’s Hall, Kincasslagh, when I was 13.

“Sonny’s Dream” also known as “Sonny”, written by Newfoundlander Ron Hynes in 1976. It tells the story of a man who wishes to fulfill his dreams, but is bound to his rural homeland by his family, particularly his lonely mother. Hynes wrote the song while on a roadtrip with his band in western Canada and based it on his uncle, Thomas “Sonny” O’Neill, who had taught him how to play guitar and had pushed him to play music professionally.

A number of people have been contacting us about the Tea Party on July 28th at Daniel and Majella’s house. Several guests have kindly asked whether they could bake something to share with everyone.

We’d absolutely love to welcome homemade baking, and it would be a wonderful addition to the spread. If you’d like to help by baking, please email [email protected] so we can get an idea of how much baking is expected and ensure we have a good balance of options.

Confirm what to bring**, where possible, so we don’t end up with too much of the same item

Let you know the drop-off details**, including where and when you can leave your baking the day before
