Ireland 26 Counties Walk for CHI -PR Ireland’s First 26-County walk Challenge - 1,200-1,500km in 30 days (Feb 14-Mar 15, 2026). Raising €50K+ for Children’s Health Foundation.

We're delighted to announce that some of our Mountmellick Writer's Group members, Mary Corcoran and Colette Wrafter's short film, "Wheels of Fortune", has been Shortlisted for the Tipperary Film Festival! Their film will be screened on the closing night of the Tipperary Film Festival, Sunday, 13th September at 7pm at the Nenagh Arts Center in Nenagh, Co.Tipperary. Congrats to Mary, Colette and all their helpers and we wish them the best of luck!!

Day 2 | 15 Feb 2026 Part - 1

Walk continues from Ardee to Carrickmacross, Monaghan, then on to Monaghan to Cootehill, Cavan. After a good rest, I woke up with shoulder pain, so I reduced my bag from 14 kg to 7 kg and kept moving.

The morning started a little later after breakfast and a short break in the rain, but once we got going, Ardee gave us a beautiful start with its castle, war monuments, sunshine, and friendly people out walking. Along the way, we had a few great chats and received kindness from a lovely couple who offered accommodation, fruits, energy drinks, and support.

This challenge is about more than distance — it’s about every county, every step, and every person who helps along the way.

Day 1: Part 3🇮🇪
Ashbourne → Ardee via Hill of Slane
The miles started to hit… heavy legs, first blisters, but the Hoka Clifton 10s kept us moving 💫
Rolling hills, back roads, rain and sleet all the way ❄️

Met Aaron at a family-run shop — great energy and just the boost we needed 🙌
Kind strangers offering lifts (we asked instead for a follow & support ❤️)
And 2km out, a lady and her son helped lighten the load until Trevor came along — finishing the final stretch together 🤍

Reached County Louth and our stop at 9:30pm
68.3km done in 12hrs 30min ✅

Day 1: Part 2 🇮🇪
Still moving… from Fingal to Ashbourne, crossing into our first county — Meath 💫
Every step counting, every mile meaning more.

For me this journey and cause means a lot more than a walk and charity Now. It’s to start something to explore unexplored ireland, promote local culture and support dying businesses communities by showing them the town you miss on your trip, due to Maps feature for cars or other vehicles

Delighted to have completed the “Walk the 26 Counties” challenge! Huge thanks to Stan N Henderson in the Laois Nationalist for the article, and to the Children's Health Foundation for the lovely meet-up and “Medal for Life.”
Recovery is going well—just a small left foot injury to manage. Really appreciate all the support for this great cause.

That's a wrap on the 2026 Mountmellick Drama Festival! Thanks to everyone who showed up and the wonderful performers who put on such wonderful shows. We have more upcoming at the Arts Centre with page to stage on this Friday evening presented by the Mountmellick Arts collective. You won't wanna miss it folks!

Hitting final leg towards Dublin 💪24/26 counties marked ✅ 1200 km walked Day 30 Headed from Mullingar to Maynooth to Dublin. Thanks you so much for everything! Can’t express the love, support, wishes and blessings I got through out the journey and for our fundraising cause. Life gave a 1000 reasons to quit and mind questioning how and why every time pain kicked in, weather went off, you couldn’t find accommodation!
