At Roundwood we feel so lucky to live and work in the foothills of the Slieve Bloom Mountains surrounded by ancient trees, quiet roads and wildlife that make this part of Ireland so special.
There’s now a proposal for a large quarry at Glendine, backed by a UK-based company, right on the edge of an EU-designated Special Area of Conservation. It’s hard to imagine heavy industry sitting alongside such a precious and protected landscape without serious consequences for the peace, beauty and biodiversity of the area.
Like many of our neighbours, we’re deeply concerned about what’s at stake. If you care about protecting our countryside, now’s the time to speak up. The deadline for public submissions is August 3rd. You can send comments to local representatives or make a formal submission to Laois County Council. Every voice matters.
